Bizarre decision not to take a penalty at the end and draw the game. England gifted all the points to Wales.
We could have easily missed the penalty and still lost. The decision to send the line out to the second man was a worse one. It was far too easy for Wales to defend against. We generally seemed a bit all over the place the second half. One of the pitfalls of an early lead. They should've really gone for it, now the Australia game is all or nothing.

PALACE FOR EVER London 27 Sep 15 2.22pm | |

I felt England had the attitude/game plan at half time and especially when we went 19-9 ahead just after HT to defend what they had just like a football team when they choose to defend a 1-0 lead. Then Wales picked up on this and England couldn't get back into going for tries (apart from the 77th min!). Of course they went 22-12 ahead so these tactics may have worked but it was a penalty we got to take this lead. As I said I feel Wales picked up on the nature of our play and played a very good game themselves in attacking us and forcing mistakes.
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |

Beyond the massive respect for Wales -- and I take nothing away from them at all --, England are brain-dead. Bomber's team selection defied belief. Quite apart from throwing away four years of preparation overnight because he s*** the bed the week before his biggest match, what kind of idiot picks a 10/12/13 who have absolutely no creativity whatsoever? What has been the point of the last four years? Where are the players like Burrell who have repeatedly delivered in big matches? Two years ago we smashed the All Blacks at Twickenham playing a dynamic, open, fast rugby. I say again, Bomber brought us to the Promised Land, then bottled it at the border. The selection of Burgess. He didn't have a bad (or good) game last night. He made his tackles, kicked poorly a couple of times and got over the gain line once or twice. MEH. But seriously, what kind of idiot picks a flanker (who's never played Union before this year) at 12? Robshaw's decision not to kick the penality (and blaming his kickers' claiming the penalty was too difficult) is risible. Quite apart from giving away stupid penalties all night, a captain could hardly made a bigger bodge of the biggest game of his career. OK, it was a tough kick. But had England missed it they would still have got the ball back from the 22 drop in an attacking position with two minutes left. In international rugby, you ALWAYS play the percentages. Parling is simply a f***ing idiot. Throwing to 2 was mind-numbingly stupid and the risk entailed is exactly what happened (bundled into touch). In that situation, you ALWAYS throw to the middle of the lineout. If you don't trust your lineout, why kick to the corner in the first place? Taking off Burgess (and this is coming from me, after all I've written) was moronic. When Ford came on, Barritt should have gone. What little offensive ability England had in midfield was removed. Oh, and why was Henry Slade even selected for the squad? Wrigglesworth. I mean what the f*** is he doing at the World Cup? Slow to the breakdown, endless slow, looping passes, zero creativity...shall I go on? England's demise started when Ben Youngs came off. Is Wrigglesworth really playing in the same tournament as Aaron Smith, and we seriously think we have a winning selection at 9? Last night, from an England perspective, was embarrassing. Wales were FANTASTIC, but make no mistake we beat ourselves. We're not out of the World Cup yet, but serious changes are needed. Edited by sydtheeagle (27 Sep 2015 10.18am)
Everything that we discussed on here pre-game pretty much came to pass last night didn't it...although to be fair Farrell played very well A fabulous game agreed but which again showed Englands mental fragility when it matters - which lays firmly at the door of the coach, captain and senior players. The decision to go to touch instead of the 3 was imbecilic, what compounded it was going to 2 on the throw and basically giving Wales a nice easy push into touch. Unbelievable really. Either side deserved to win that last night for what they put into it physically and its no good Lancaster and Robshaw being full of doom and gloom now - they have to beat the Australians so are in knock out rugby and he should pick a team accordingly and get those players fired up accordingly. I had my doubts England would progress from the group and obviously that's now more bleeding obvious but Lancaster, after this tournament ends needs to step away. A great job of settling the ship after the horrors of 4-6 years ago but this is as good as England are ever going to get without change. A decent side but nothing more.

Little curio for you fans....there was a professional rugby league team based in Mitcham in the 1930's and they got a crowd of 22,000 for one of their games. Never knew rugby league was played in London at that level until now.

It may not last but America are doing well against Scotland so far. Proving, as I said a couple of pages ago, that you cannot play competitive rugby at any level on less than a week's rest. The tournament has to be re-formatted to include either even numbers of teams in a group or rest weekends. Teams are being beaten by the schedulers. Wales (against Fiji, midweek) will be the next victims.

it must be either brian ashton or woodward SCW. But it's general knowledge that if Bomber does go, Squeaky will likely get the job. (Rob Andrew).
