These people clearly do not want peace and the region has some lovely spots that could be converted into some smashing golfing resorts, so I do believe that it is time to reconsider nuking the entire Middle East. This would resolve the dispute and turn the desert to glass, thus meaning that oil companies will not waste money having to embark on costly searches for oil, they will be able to look down and see where the oil is. This means that savings will be passed on to consumers and help propel Britain out of recession. I am sure that this proposal will be pooh poohed by our liberal, hand wringing, homo marriage promoting, veggie burger eating, atheist, electric car driving lefty peers on this site, who will no doubt call it barbaric and over top. However, if it were not for such actions in the past, we would now be munching bratwurst and wearing leather shorts, rather than enjoying the freedom granted to us by Her Glorious Majesty in the utopia that is Britain.

I have always contended that the Israel-Palestinian conflict is not about land. It never has been and never will be. Instead, it is about religion - the aptly-called 'Clash of Civilisation.' Indeed, a Palestinian Imam once remarked that if the population of Israel were Muslim, then there would be no hatred towards them. Israel is the emblematic bone of contention in the Muslim world. (Bin Laden adopted a similar stance when he rather satirically urged the West to embrace Islam in order to end the Western-Islamic conflict) Hence, why is it that when over 400 Palestinians have been killed in Syria (by Assad's forces), barely any media organisations, let alone the Islamist-apologist-Left pick up on it and call for solidarity rallies?
Let's not focus on the actual original and ongoing problems. The taking of land and the dispossessing of a people and their continual haranguement by the perpertrators. Yeah, it happened and it's still happening but it's nothing to do with that. It's a clash of civilizations, innit?
Do you mean us civilised erudite Hinglish and the barbarians from the wrong side of Berwick ??

All the pontifications, intellectualisation, justification and blather from both sides of the fence. This is what war and conflict is really about. The fact that not only both sides allow this to happen but will continue with their actions as naseum just shows the quicker human beings dissapear from this planet the better. We offer the natural order absolutely nothing

If it goes West, then Greece and the Balkans get it. This could assist in reducing the Greek social security burden and would flood the country with aid to rebuild the place, thus providing a welcome financial boost during these recessionary times. With regards to the Balkans, it is only a matter of time before those bunch of loonies have another crack at all out war and genocide. Heading that off could then allow hotel magnates to build some cracking yachting resorts in the Adriatic. Whichever way you look at it, it is a win win situation.

In a forest or jungle animals are killed in the most brutal fashion. It's a never ending battle of birth and death, with young animals singled out most of all. Nature isn't an entity that cares, social animals are and only as a mechanism for survival. Your attitude is entirely the result of having been protected from the real, 'natural order'. In the 'natural order' your life expectancy would probably be around about twenty.

Heavy handed yes. Any country that comes under repeated rocket attacks is likely to strike back at some point but I think they have made their point. Point taken, but Israel has been carrying out economic, humanitarian and territoral warfare against the palestinians for dozens of years, including of course the original take over of palestinian land and property in '47 (this wasn't a bloodless process) and subsequent creeping annexation of further land for settlements. It is true that some Arabs as well as alot of Palestinians wont accept a Jewish state in Palestine, but the same is true in Israel with fundamentalists who will never allow a Palestinian state to exist. Israel obviously has a very strong military infrastructure underwritten by the United States which bows to the Jewish lobby as well as a very right wing Christian fundamentalist lobby (some of whom actually want Israel to go to war with the Arabs to fulfil a biblical prophesy) It only takes a modicum of research to understand that many Israels (including most of the political parties) idea of a proper peace agreement, is for the Palestinians to accept a second class stateless existance having ceded to Israel all of the land it wants and having no viability as a coherent and succesful community (just look at the comments by one Israeli minister who suggested the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas should be forcibly removed if the UN grants it a higher status). Given this situation (which is a little reminiscent of the Irish troubles) where one side knows it will not achieve anything truly worthwhile from negotiations, it is no surprise that it decides it will not sit passively by...given the results of the IRA's long campaign in Northern Ireland, who can say that violence didn't influence a positive outcome for the Catholic's

Numbers of civilians killed from Afghanistan and Iraq wars: 132,000.
You are right. The taking of land and the dispossessing of a people and their continual haranguement by the perpertrators is devastating. Kermy, if the Israelis are engaging in genocide and massacres of the Palestinians, then they're fcuking awful at it.

Perversely your atitudes expressed align you quite nicely with Hitler and Osama Bin Laden. Your viewpoint about everybody east of Berlin tends to ignore that the nutcases who started the First World War were very much of the Western capitalist christian breed.

Probably 'natural order' was a wrong choice of phrase but animals will generally kill purely as a survival instict or for food. Humans with our supposed higher reasoning and intellect should have evolved beyond such things but we continue to kill each other in droves on a daily basis and find paper thin arguments to support it
