As much as I am gutted with the outcome, what was nice is to see us on the front foot at home and dictating the match. The high press will mean we are going to get caught over the top, but that's something we will work on I am sure. Overall it's great to watch a whole 90 minutes without wanting it to end! I think there are plenty of positives to take from the game, and not too many negatives. Schlupp for Ayew in next game would be the logical choice, just think Olise will start with a few substitute appearances before getting a full 90 minutes. Think Ayew may struggle to get his place back.
Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs. |

Gallagher was incredible, his work rate, press and composure on the ball was just fantastic. He was the main reason Brighton could barely get out their own half in the first 45. Ayew’s miss cost us big time and despite playing well I just feel as sick as a parrot at the moment. Wardy started poorly, getting caught in possession, playing balls and crosses into no mans land and generally causing them no problems whatsoever. He did however grow into the game and after about 20 mins in he played much much better. His commitment and passion was fantastic and definitely rubs off on our other players. I just feel that with a fit Ferguson playing behind Olise or someone like Sarr we would be transformed down the right hand side and that is going to help us immensely. Mitchell continues to improve and Andersen & Guehi are absolute class. I can’t believe the goal we conceded and I’m not in a position to comment further until I’ve seen it again on the tv. And I’m sorry, that just has to be a wind up if someone is saying the BBC awarded Wellbeck with MOTM?! Gutted!

The game back in February was shocking. To be gloating as many did with the Benteke winner when we had been so s*** was just embarrassing. I don't take pride in fluking a win, at least tonight we had an element of control. Suck it up, learn and move on. A good work in progress, but that needed to be won.

Last season the Weed never got much luck whereas we got a lot of lucky points. It looks like the tables have turned. Very good performance though

VG is a class goalkeeper. Yeh he scuffed the kick, but it happens. Calling for Guaita to be axed from our lineup is absolute nonsense, it’s natural to be seriously annoyed at that last minute goal but he saves us about 10 points per season, easily. I agree. I thought he overall had a good game. My question is why oh why we played such a high line on that last kick given that our defenders, except for maybe Mitchell, are so slow. It's like we mapped out for them how to get a quick goal against us. Let's hope we learn from it.

Dominated the game, and a little unlucky with the last minute goal kick falling to a Brighton player. With hindsight the goalkeeper could have done things differently. As for Ayew’s miss he should have scored but their GK and defender narrowed the angle, overall he had a good game. Young team playing a pressing game will make us hard to beat going forward.

Agreed. We lost the press after he came on and he added nothing to the game. That’s rubbish. I know it hurts right now, but CB isn’t to blame here (as popular as it is to hate on him.)

Why wasn't Tosser booked for giving away the penalty? Then he would of been off for hauling down Zaha and got booked for it. Because it wasn’t a yellow card for the pen, it was a foul.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Just got back and ashamed to say the first match I’ve actually seen us play under PV… Thought we were absolutely terrific, we are a completely different team. Brighton are not a bad side and it was a high quality match. Very impressed with the two CB’s, both look comfortable on the ball and read the game well. Just missed the cutting edge but we’ve got Eze and Olise to come in. We seem to have options galore now. Tight match but felt we edged it over 90 mins. Sloppy goal to concede but encouraging on the whole. Had this down as a transition season but we’ve gelled quickly. We’ll be nowhere near relegation this year and I think next season we’ll be ready to push for top 8.

We were the better team. They had the better luck. Jordan Ayew lost us that win. He is not good enough, to not hit the target from there is unforgivable. Great to be back in a noisy selhurst ... shame about last minute cock up.

The one that should have been a second yellow for me was Cucurella (or whatever his name is - Brighton LB) for his late challenge on Gallagher in the build up to the Ayew chance. Stonewall second yellow. Saying that, I think we were fairly lucky VAR didn't intervene after Ward's hefty challenge. I loved it but I've definitely seen ones like those punished recently with a red.

Last minute Equalizer was bad luck but in the end all evens out (remember our last win when we touched the ball in their box just 2 times). Very confident for the season. And BTW: Haven‘t a lot of us asked for more attacking play even at the cost of dropping points the seasons before ?!?!?!
