Blimey, it's one win. Today was great, and I'm up for the gamble of changing style, but the simple fact is that Hodgson didn't have this group of players (or one comparable to it) to work with, so we'll never know what he might have done. Probably to get back and defend like feck after the first goal.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Back from the game. Understandably euphoric. And hopefully Eduoard's contribution ends forever the debate about Benteke being good if he 'only had the service'. The way Eduoard pulled off the defender so giving himself the space and instinctively knowing the location of the bottom corner is a great skill and one that Benteke has never displayed.

Hodgson was not only holding us back but Roy Ball was draining the life from us and killing any prospect of us ever enjoying watching our beloved team again Can you imagine the new players we’ve just secured with Hodgson at the helm and not PV?! Can you imagine us putting in a performance like that under Hodgson?! A sweet two fingers up to all those dull Roy ball lovers who kept telling us last season that keeping Hodgson as manager was the only way we were going to stay up! :p Today was just simply fantastic! I enjoyed the performance every bit as much as anyone else. I was worrying after the sending off that it was going to be one of those games! When everything is going right, except the one vital thing. We were missing chance after chance, so I feared Spurs might sneak another 1-0 with their only shot on target. But the penalty changed that, and left them open for the second and third. The negatives about Roy though disappoint me. He did his job. Which was to keep us in the league whilst Parish did his. Roy is as much part of today's success as anyone else, and we need to pay tribute to him.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Criticizing Ward has become a regular thing on this forum On attending the game - no but watched live on BT Sport as I’m sure a lot of others did on here..!! But you did apparently all the way from Cornwall - good effort and hats off to you..!! Firstly - great performance - what really made me smile was all the focus on the players Spurs had missing - hold on we hardly had our best starting XI - no Ferguson/Clyne, Schlupp, Milo, Hughes, Eze, Olise or Edouard - albeit the latter did come on and score 2..!! So both teams under strength if all players fit and available - so that’s that bit cleared up..!! For me difference today was the defence - what a difference Guehi and Andersen make - they have pace and can play - whereas last season we were so slow and didn’t have the ability to play out from the back and that put so much strain on the team and then the style we could play..!! Additionally PV is a lot more attack minded than RH - same scenario last season would have been 0-0 at best - we all remember Villa away - lost 3-0..!! On Ward - he’s been a great servant but today proved even if it still needed to be proved that he just ain’t good enough at this level and certainly not with the class and quality we have in the squad - he’s just a weak link, out of his depth and it stands out like a sore thumb..!! Same can be said of Ayew - don’t get me started, can’t control the ball - next touch is a tackle, can’t cross and can’t shoot - what exactly can he do/does he bring to the team..!!! Both Ward and Ayew IMO were the worst Palace players on the pitch today - and that’s a problem because that’s our entire right flank and the better teams will/would exploit that..!! Fortunately we have players coming back to fitness that will mean neither will play - in the fullness of time when everyone is fit and available doubt either one will even make the bench..!! All that said great performance, great result let’s celebrate - enjoy your Saturday nights all..!! Come on Vieira and COYP...!!

Utterly ridiculous. Just enjoy the result. Name one player PV picked today who was available to RH and not selected to play? RH did a fantastic job with the resources he had available. He kept us in the top division longer than any other manager in our history has managed to do. Please everyone, let's move on.

Yes, an upgrade on Ward is desperately needed but at least we’ve addressed some of the other positions in the recent transfer window. The back four had a superb game and Wardy just edged the others although Guehi and Andersen have a brilliant partnership.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

Yes, Sir Roy kept us up, as did Benteke over the years- we wouldn"t be here today without them !
