I don't think he would be up to speed to come on and take it. There is a flow to football at whatever level you play and when you are cold you don't feel in the game for a few minutes. I think it would be asking a lot to come on and immediately take a penalty.

Interesting thought. Are you allowed to do this as I have never seen it done in a PL match ? Seen a goalie change for penalties.

Great result yesterday. Thought we were good all along the team. Mitchell looked great and would be a shame to drop due to injury returns. Wilf had 2 chances to get a hat trick when he could of been more committed with the goalie. Bit of a slip for their goal but solid overall performance.

Shameful from Sky Sports to have 3 former players as pundits, 2 from ManUre !?!

Thought both our full backs had great games and Man United's were poor. Mitchell had a harsh introduction as he was up against Traore on debut but since then he is looking the real deal. I think he defends better that PVA although he may not be such a goal threat. He is better on the ball than AWB.

It seemed strange to only bring him on with 2 minutes to go, despite us having the league, and making two substitutions for more attacking players with Eze And Bats. A move that he never seems to do when chasing a game.

I'm surprised to say I really like this 4-4-2 formation. We didnt need 3 holding midfielders every week. Playing Zaha in the middle makes it harder for him to be marked out of games, Ayews work rate compliments Zaha. Schlupp provides some protection for Mitchell. Jimmy Mac's work well together. Townsend seemed to make a few tackles yesterday. Kouyate is better as a defender than a midfielder. Plan A against bigger sides seems sorted for now. We just need a plan B and a plan for playing teams that dont press so much.

Took this from Wickiepedia and I was at the match 12/09/1989 - Liverpool 9 Palace 0 :-(
“The crowd called for the introduction of John Aldridge, who was about to leave the club to join Real Sociedad; manager Kenny Dalglish obliged, and replaced Beardsley with Aldridge. Aldridge converted the penalty with his first touch, to loud cheers”
