Dear Tom, let's be more realistic, we only need another 37 points to be theoretically safe for another season. talk of anything else is wishful thinking!

In the commentary here in Malta they said that Saints only played one preseason game compared to our four. I think that lack of preparation showed. We looked very disciplined without the ball and although sloppy with our passing we continually looked a threat on the break while Saints often looked slow and bereft of ideas. A really strong defensive performance and generally a good team performance all round. Eze has shown in brief cameos that he will be able to take our attacking pay up a notch and we have Bats to add that killer instinct. We really needed the points as the next 3 games will be really tough.

Massive 3 points especially after our finish to last season. If we can keep players fit this year then I can see us having a big season. Roy will be more than happy to concede possession in most games while hitting teams quickly on the break.

If saints play with such a high line, they will get murdered this season.
Thought we defended well, keeper was great.
Good finish for the goal , but Zaha not even hitting the target at the end is one of the reasons that a top team isnt interested. Eze looked decent when he came on.
Good 3 points.

He finished 2 out of 3 good chances. That's fine. He tried to go the other side of the keeper for the last one and I understand his logic there. Zaha is only minding the space that Batshuay will fill when Zaha is sole and Bats is match fit so won't be a problem for much longer. If Zaha score in his next match that maybe be enough to convince suitors of his ability to hit the back of the net, even if he is purely on an unlikely run of finishing form.

7.5% of the season completed already. Great start and confidence boost on a tough opening set of fixtures. With some key players still to return from injury, getting to see Eze for a bit, VG and Wilf still at the club and working hard for the team, keeping a strong Soton team at bay, lots of positives here. COYP !!

Agreed are these stats from the same source that claimed, in 1 game last season we had no touches in the opposition penalty area? That was proved to be inaccurate

Probably from the BBC, as I saw their montage to the opening of the new season and couldn't see us in there at all !! Even the Weeds appeared.

Not 7.5% of the season completed. One match out of 38 is 2.6%. Back to school! However, I agree it was a great start, even if we still have 97.4% of our fixtures to come.

I presume the OP meant 7.5% of the required points total (40) to guarantee survival achieved.
