The reason I believe is simple. Roy likes seasoned pros and places his trust in them. If they perform in training they then become favourites and will be first on the team sheet every week. Roy is a system manager and if you fit, you fit, if you don’t you don’t. He takes some persuading to go off piste. AWB replaced ward

AWB replaced ward Sorry, I don’t follow you? AWB replaced Ward because it was Hobson’s choice ie Ward was injured. Roy, then and only then saw his ability and had no choice but to pick him. Had Ward been fit AWB would not have got his chance. Are you arguing against this point as I’m not sure what you are trying to say? As far as I am concerned Riedewald has proved his ability, it remains to be seen whether Roy reverts to his favourites when fit.

All correct But Roy is keeping us in top off of premier league table with a second string team and yes it can be boring but it’s about as good as we are ever going to get unless money is pumped in bigtime. Which we do not have The alternative is we don’t extend his contract end of season, bring in someone else, the style may be more attractive, but zaha is going and we’ll never get higher in table. A club our size just can’t unless we unearth Jamie Vardy part 2 and keep him As good as wilf can be, he’s a winger. Not a striker. We need a worldly striker

I agree with you on this. The only thing PVA seems to have over him is pace. Riedwald does seem very sluggish but he deserves nothing but praise for the way he has stepped in at LB. He is still only 23 so lots of time on his side. A bit more pace and mobility and he would be lethal.

Can't understand why some slag off Kelly, he's done a great job filling in all season. True he struggled a bit today but he had a few team mates in the same boat so to speak. Our set pieces are horrendous to say the least, you would think they never practice them during the week. Happy with the point but we should have pressed harder for the win especially against 10 men.

Why not just be happy that he's a great goalkeeper. Strange to always have to compare him to our back up goalie. Originally posted by Gribbo
Jairo rapidly turning into a top performer. Is it just me, but I cannot remember the last time Wilf had a decent game against a top 6 side, obviously excusing the fact that Arsenal were once a top 6 side, but now look so far from it, it is hard to believe. Top tip from me - the Gooners will turn on Arteta before the end of the season. He most certainly is not the answer - 7 or 8 new players might stand them in better stead.

I thought Riedewald was excellent today. Not a proper full back but could develop into a good midfielder for us Totally agree I have always supported him and think he is quality

I'm starting to have big doubts about McCarthy, slow to react then charges in to compensate too much, McArthur had been out of form till today, Meyer was ineffective so for Roy to fashion a side that could contain Arsenal the way they did was a great job, the football is necessarily turgid, it hasn't always been under roy, return of injured plus new players and we'll knock it about more often.

I don't think McArthur's been out of form in his entire palace career. Absolute warrior. First name on the teamsheet for me.
