We were due a thumping ... and we got one, from one of the best teams in Europe.

2nd half we contained them and credit to Roy for ensuring that after that first half ...

In simple terms / 3 words ... Champions League Finalists!

Next!!!

One word - shambolic.

PS Hilariously enough, that word hasn't been heard of by Google.

What younger players ????

Have you actually seen our underage teams ?

Lampard's young players are playing for England and are top class. Ours would struggle to get a game in my local park.

Yes I have and a couple of the lads could do quite well given the chance but Roy just wont do hence the reason we see the same poor line up each week. Roy will stick to his setup and game play every time as he knows no different. He has always been the same and will not change. After every match he just repeats the same old same old. That's why us fans suffer so much.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

Can anyone remember how we got on in the next few games after that debacle at home to Sunderland (0-4 at half time)? Yes, I know, I'm clutching at straws.

Leaving aside yesterday, the defensive coaching drills of Hodgson are there for all to see and in fairness this is a key part of the game.
What I can never see, however, is any evidence of coaching on the attacking side of the game.
Basically it’s give the ball to Zaha and see what happens.
If he’s not on song for whatever reason we’re unlikely to score too many.
It’s too simplistic to say this is just down to the lack of
quality in the strikers that we have.

In the interview by Hodgson that is referred to he talked of more heartache and struggle for the fans and spoke almost fondly about Palace’s days in the old Third Division South.
It could be argued that he is being realistic and dampening expectations of the fans so that a mid table position would seem like winning the Champions League.
I can’t subscribe to that view.
For me the real crime is to aim low and miss which is where we could be heading with this negative philosophy.
Hodgson often gives the impression that he is happy with a narrow 1-0 defeat and his main annoyance yesterday was probably conceding 4 goals.
With a solid defence and two holding midfield players I am sure we could still be sound defensively and offer more threat up front.
Instead we play with 9 behind the ball every week.

In the post match conference he clearly wasn't at all happy with the 1st half. Also he did make a valid point that we could easily be on 3 points and not 7. Think he was saying that we haven't dominated any game this season, all very nervy. Last season we rarely did as well and with such a small improvement in the squad over the summer quite possibly we will do the same again. Agree with the tactics, as they seem to be one dimensional throughout any match. As a result as others have said 17th or above seems the sole goal. Think we have been winging it most of this PL tenure to be honest, boosting results with managerial changes and a sense of luck with major players. AWB was a bonus and if ManUre had bothered to give Wilf a go and nurtured him he wouldn't be back here now. This has been mixed up with some gutsy players who have given everything that they have but a fair few duffers, some expensive, along the way to negate them. Let's hope we can weather the storm presently and come out with a stronger squad in the future.

A bad result but if we'd been offered 3 points from away games to Man U and Spurs, I'd have been happy with that.
We are also point behind 3rd place in the league. Surely not all doom and gloom.

So you believe being fouled every time you move the ball forward is Shambolic, What I watched was one team being highly clinical with opportunities and the other being professionally fouled with special treatment to it's star player, the ultimate moment was when Kane actually sat on Zaha and the so called ref allowed play to continue for yet another Spurs attack! ..what was it nineteen fouls and they were the ones actually counted for!! ..probably about another ten or eleven ignored, if one team cannot mount enough good attacking opportunities to worry the oppositions defence and keeper then the result is always going to be about four nil against an attacking force the likes of Spurs have ..we had no chance whatsoever ..remember that FA cup game against Man.U with MR Clatterbang as ref!!

One was a very fortunate deflection don't forget and at a terrible time.

Is it ?

So are you saying that Hodgson has sufficient attacking options available to him and he should be getting more out of them ??

And of course we are trying to get the ball to our best player as often as we can. Any team in a similar position to ours would.

Roy has his limitations but I still defend him because he is not being given the resources to do anything much beyond what he has and is achieving. Which actually is a lot in any case.

I sense increasing frustration on his part because actually it must get
difficult to operate at this level in a financial straighjacket and I’m pretty sure he would not have wanted to go into this season with the likes of Benteke and Wickham as two of his three striking options.

Well said Neillo. I agree completely.

Yes and we did get the ball successfully to him didn't we ..only for him to be promptly fouled nine times out of ten, the game came down to clinical finishing after awful positional play from us and brutal treatment being professionally dished out every single time we threatened. Awful positional play has absolutely nothing to do with Hodgson.

Good post and I sensed that yesterday from him in the post match conference. Also poor guy's face looked very strained. If the bags under his eyes get any bigger his eyeballs might fall out.
