All this texting business these days. In my day you had to avail of a landline or go to a telephone box with 'A' and 'B' buttons.Think you pressed 'A' when the call was answered and 'B' if it wasn't and you wanted your money back but this is all rather hazy.

Hang on, are you the same Dr Love that's been texting me too? No, I save the Dr Love trick for the ladies, sadly doesn't work on geezers. Have you had any texts from Nurse Jisim or Anal Midwife?

Yep. I would never read someones private mail... it just seems a massive invasion of privacy and abuse of trust. The letter was opened, but in a envelope... not that, that makes a difference. If I was at a girls house, and her bank statement was on the table... even in full view, I wouldn't read it. Without respect of privacy, we learn terrible truths we'd have been happier not knowing.

Indeed I have seen young ladies buy their partner a drink at a bar which is very alien to me. In my day it was just the 'Done thing' that the male bought the drinks. If you took a girl to a cocktail bar this could work out quite expensive but then you went there knowing it would hit you in the pocket. All very different these days generally - I have seen couples out and they are on their phones not even talking to one another ! Probably texting each other !!!! Edited by Willo (15 Mar 2017 2.23pm) Feminism and the modern world innit. No harm in it, and no harm in the old way either, like holding doors open for people and helping old ladies with their shopping. Some traditions are alright, but I know of people for whom paying is all about 'getting something in return' and they'll leverage that.

I'm like that with Christmas presents but I keep my anger bottled up when I spend £25 on my sister and she just gets me 6 bottles of Beck's Blue which I know were on offer for £4.

Basic manners and being treated like a lady go a long way. Pulling the chair out in a restaurant, holding the door open. Little things. Someone who makes a big deal of these things can be unattractive. Should be done very subtly. Key thing is if you are a man who likes to pay for drinks and meals etc then please don't throw it back in said ladies face at a later date. That's just plain nasty
