I'm as passionate as the next guy on here but I feel we have hit the 'wall' and if we don't continue to move forward rather than consolidate then we are susceptible to the teams below us overtaking us. We have become complacent in my eyes and we MAY pay the price come the end of the season, hence my cover bet. keg Waste of £2. You would have been better off buying a lottery ticket. I could never bet for Palace to go down, I just wouldn't enjoy the money but hey that's just me.

I'll be glad when it's past 11pm and all this nonsense is over. It's just like rushing to the supermarket at Christmas ...and I hate that too. Humbug!!!

Rhodes 11 million to Boro, extortionate amount of money. Unproven in the top league, could get Remy for that!

From a business point of view, they feel we won't get relegated and won't get in top 4. However, with great fortune, we could win the FA cup or break into the top 6. Downside, bad luck could get us relegated. But that's the pro's and con's. So, they bought in Ade and feel confident that will see us finish comfortably in mid table, all goes well. Then come summer, build. They do not, however, feel it is worth splashing out on players to only end the season in a similar position as no new players. As i have said before, Parish takes risks, not huge risks, but enough to think... 'hmmm, ok not too sure about this' and he has been lucky in that respect. Point being.. appointing Freedman - could have backfired, a young, inexperienced manager - but he did a job and had a great spell just before his departure (different story). Now don't get me wrong, everything can be based around fortune, but not everything goes according to plan - did Parish honestly believe we would be here today - probably not. Fact is, we are and let's just enjoy it. But god knows come july we better have 2 great signings to kick on with. Edited by Vaibow (01 Feb 2016 8.53pm)

This just simply isn't true. Remind me how much Odion Ighalo and Jamie Vardy have scored this season and how much they cost. Conversely remind me how many Benteke has scored versus how much he cost Liverpool. You can 100% still pick up bargains and you can also overspend on s***e - especially in the January window.

A reasoned well said post and i agree. My only point would have been that i would have liked to see another 1 or 2 better quality to come in just to ensure we are mid table and not drawn into a relegation battle, then properly build in the summer. Originally posted by Vaibow

What I think beyond what I said a few posts ago is that we should have moved early in the window, while we still had 5th/6th place to fight for. Upgrading then, in early January, could have made a big difference to our season. However, we didn't and after we fell away in recent weeks, I think the urgency to do business now -- beyond a forward (Adebayor) -- diminished considerably. I suspect it became a case of "rolling the dice on upgrades now is no longer necessary because this is a mid-table season so we're better to keep our powder dry in pursuit of real and considered upgrades in the summer." Which makes sense to me. In short, once we failed to move early in the window and went on a losing run, a quiet window was probably inevitable, even though none of us saw it coming.

Syd I agree completely early business and we could have had a right go.

It's not that once in a blue moon. Nor is it that rare that people spend £30m on Benteke, Andy Carroll, an ageing Torres, etc for it to not pan out. I'd be f***ing furious if we spent £25m on Saido Berahino. He isn't even close to being worth it.

I think everyone would agree with early business ! I don't agree on your negativity though on not pushing for a top six finish anymore ? We are only 6 points off with games we can win coming up! We should be trying very hard to secure players to help us push for that over the next 5 or 6 games. Which is going to be the decider on where we finish
