What you say is fair to a point. But if we fail to score against Brighton and put in yet another inept performance similar to recent games whilst shipping yet more goals, the question that needs to be asked is, would another manager do any worse? Possibly, but a new manager lift may be needed just to survive this year. IMO our problems have been building up for around 2 years now. This is obviously just my take on it and I don’t expect many, if any to agree and I don’t really care to be honest, however I blame the management structure from top to bottom for our current dilemma. The owners for not putting their hands in their pockets, the scouting team for not finding the right players to rejuvenate our squad, the coaches for perhaps pushing our elderly squad too hard in training hence the massive amount of training ground injuries and our manager for not pushing hard enough for new players and his bizarre selections, playing players out of position and failure to implement alternative tactics and timely substitutes during the course of a match. It just strikes me as being a set up that is in decline from top to bottom. Some love to be dramatic and call this bed wetting or whatever petty juvenile insult they care to use stating our current points total as justification, however we are a team in steep decline and the bottom line is this. 1) We have a squad that is no longer fit for purpose in the PL. 2) We rely almost solely on one player to successfully attain points in a match and he will most likely leave this year. 3) We are told by many on here that due to FFP we have no money to invest. I am not sure of the truth in this but it certainly appears we have owners who are not willing to spend money. 4) We are top of the league for injuries and regularly appear towards the top of the league in this statistic. 5) We have a manager on £4.5m per annum who appears happy to plod along in the knowledge of all the above. It all sounds very over the top doesn’t it, but where does it end? If we survive this year, which you would hope we will given the quality of other teams in the league, can anyone honestly see us staying in the PL next year without a total review of our playing staff and significant investment? Happy for anyone to put a positive spin on anything I have mentioned. This is a discussion forum after all.

I have grave doubts Hodgson would be able to do it again next year given our current situation with players (Indeed, it will be a tall order for any incoming manager as well). Talk of a clear out and new man with fresh ideas and a new squad of much younger players is all well and good, but how long will it take to get that squad playing at a level that would enable us to keep our PL place? I will be overjoyed if we are still in the PL come the 2022/23 season AND playing a more attractive style of football with a good balance of youth and experience. However, I'm not expecting that to be the case.

Eaglecoops, agree with you entirely, what concerns me is the lack of investment in the team and the ground. The ground seems to be owned by Parish/Blitzer/Harris, therefore I guess it is leased back to the club, all charges on the ground seemed to have been paid off in 2015 and the remainder in 2018. In the unlikely event the club should fail (hope not!) once relegated, it seems possible that the owners above would still retain ownership of some very good south London real estate which would with planning permission would be a very valuable asset?. I guess the American would be interested in that more than this football club?

Nice one Roy - having a pop at the fans for expecting too much. He is quoted comparing us to Charlton who were not happy with a top half finish and wanted more. Top half would be great Roy, a shot on target in 90 minutes would also be good, and sending out the players with some kind of desire would also lift the spirits. Completely lost the plot old fella. Go now before you drag my club any further down for your £4.5m p.a. Shame your players don't have your balls coming out with this nonsense.

I do understand where you are coming from, however Roy is not responsible for his own salary that has been agreed by Parish as is the contracts that have been extended on players who are always injured or who have just lost their skills. Then there is the lack of investment in a team largely inherited from other managers and the injury list that means his option are limited meaning he is left
