I agree his lack of excitement is very annoying when he scores and that celebration of his has got to be one of the worst in football but it must have a meaning for him, but I don’t think that can be taken for not enjoying scoring. Edited by EddieMac (07 Dec 2020 11.05am) I love his leg thing and I did actually think at the time after he scored that he didn't raise them as high as he normally does which was quite strange considering the frustrations he's had, but I hadn't really thought about how a plyer shows his enthusiasm after scoring in relation to how they play before ..interesting.

Most fans (me included) have to eat our hats! "Tekkers" is back to his former self. Against Spurs he was the Benteke we hoped he was when we signed him for 27 mill. or thereabout.

Apart from not scoring he did well today. Held ball up well and brings others into play - great give and go with Eze. He looks more up for it. I wouldn't drop him for Ayew or Bats at the moment and I bet Roy won't either.

In his first season, he had support from Zaha, Townsend and Puncheon. Since then Puncheon has never really been replaced and he's been largely left to lead the line on his own. The last two games he had support from Zaha, Eze, and Schlupp.

He was so up for it today he forgot to take the knee today, hairing off down the right wing while everyone else went down on one knee. I found it very amusing especially when he crept back behind Son like no one had noticed!! Good for him. His heart is right back in it and he played great all game.

Keep it up Christian, great all round play and the goals will be a bonus, as you showed last week.

I know he has a long way to go to win most fans over after the last couple of seasons he has had but I must admit it is a nice feeling to see Benteke playing well. When on form he is a major plus to our side.

Get the feeling Eze has displaced Ayew and a bit of an upgrade in terms of being able to keep a hold of the ball and move it or move with it. Team better suits Benteke now and he certainly looks more useful in this system, for me anyway. Lets hope he gets some more goals too!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

We'll have to wait and see if the the goals v.WBA were an isolated incident or if he really can find goal scoring form again. Let's hope he can, but for the time being he merits his place in the starting line up. He has good ball control and a deft touch and seems a good fit with Wilf and Eze.

much improved but still offside far too much. He is so slow coming out that he is automatically offside if a second wave attack starts. Classic example is one two with Zaha 2nd half. He was walking back when the defence moved up so even a last second adjustment was not enough to stay onside. He has done this for 4 years now - i thought on his debut v Bournemouth it might be as he wasn't 100% fit, but now i think it's just a combination of laziness and lack of football brain. Look at someone like Vardy - plays on the last defender but is rarely offside. Come on Tekkers, sort it out

At his most lean, Benteke probably weights about 25kg more than Vardy. He’s never going to have anywhere near the same speed or work rate and shouldn’t be expected to play the same role.
