One can compare the statistics with regard to our recent managers and draw conclusions from them but stats sometimes don't tell the whole story. At the end of the day Hodgson with hardly any backing at all in the transfer market has done a sterling job and his priority is to ensure we remain in the PL.Indeed we are a hard watch but Hodgson is a vastly experienced manager and the organisation and discipline he has instilled in the team has been pivotal to our survival. Supporters of course would yearn a more expansive game but Hodgson clearly believes with the players at his disposal the style he has imposed is best suited to remaining in the PL. This sums things up quite nicely.

Clearly, but he should have seen 3 points were there for the taking with meyer coming on. During his time as Palace manager, I've seen no indication that Hodgson has that positive thought process in his tactical locker.

I watched most of the second half and though we dominated Newcastle handed us possession in the same way Pulis used to do when he was in charge, and we did not show much sense of purpose or link up very well, lacked direction and conviction , lots of stray passes and running into dead ends, surprised Roy was so happy with the midfield, Jimmy Mac was poor at times and Meyer should have come on earlier, lack of ambition cost us a result - as for new players we all know we need a right back and a striker but we need an offensive midfielder just as much - hopefully we can do a transition over the next seaon or two where we get rid of the over paid deadwood and freshen up the squad with two or three up and coming players

As with other posters, Palace's performance befitted 3 pts were it not for great saves and not properly executing chances created. Much better possession and fight than demonstrated against Brighton but suffering from depth in attack and once again, relying far too much on Zaha to be the game changer. West Ham and Norwich will fancy their chances.

What the club is missing is a goalscorer. Injuries will always cost a club with limited resources and we have to dig in and grind out the points. We need 15 more from 20 games.

Looking at the goal we conceded, just like the Brighton goal we had players sitting deep in the 6 yard box and nobody picking up a player who was let unmarked in a central position next to the penalty spot. And perhaps PVA or Zaha could have done better to prevent the player getting in a cross.

This game rings relegation alarm bells. these were 3 points to be had, but negative football mindset was the main architect of our downfall. when we roll over against the spuds and say we will make it up in winnable games, then gift away the those? roy should be ashamed not pleased of this outcome.

Yesterday was another example outlining the fact that we need a goal scorer, most of our supporters have been saying that for the last two years. It will continue to be a problem as long as our board insist that they don't want to spend any money. They seem to believe that our resources are sufficient, clearly up front that is wrong. Roy does his best with what is available but Benteke, Wickham and Ayew just are not up to getting 30 goals between them a season, reinforcements are needed.
