It was 2011.

You can state what you think of someone, which is fair enough, but you can't go round saying things like 'as crooked as they come' without proof. Not that Abbott has been on the Hol for a while. Yes, wasn't it David Bentley who was rather unfairly hanged for a crime he probably didn't commit? There was a gang culture then in the 50s, just like Brighton. Susmik circa 1956.... Attachment: teddyboyhair.jpg (30.53Kb)

Thanks for the advice Matt. I'm more than comfortable with the range of sources I use when my head is in clear air, which (given my lack of spinal flexibility) is 100% of the time. Of course, the Sun's owner also has Sky under his wing, which has a level of ubiquity that the print media does not. I'm also quite confident that social media doesn't form it's opinions in isolation. If you think that the incessant media narrative around fear doesn't have an influence on attitudes and behaviours in general, than perhaps it's you that's fortunate enough to be able to blessed with a flexible torso. I repeat, you are thinking in 1970s terms. Do you honestly believe that those whom are alleged to have carried out this crime were influenced by columnists in the Mail and Sun? Or do you think that is a convenient hook for you to hang societal ills upon because it suits your agenda?

It was 2011. Yes, but where is your moral outrage on this Nick? Are there cut-off time limit on when you are outraged? Presumably then can all forget about the wars entered into by Blair's Labour Government? Nazis - ancient history?

I wonder if Admin would consider opening another General Talk forum just for the usual half dozen suspects to try to batter each other into submission on a daily basis but in return exclude them from this forum so that the rest of us can discuss non Palace matters without this constant battle going on around us

Only if it affects her career or financially has impact, or in terms of credibility. If I remember rightly a politician once sued 'Have I got News for You' after referring to him as an odious s**t, and lost, because there was no financial or public relations impact from the comment (which is was not the reality of bringing and losing a case for Slander).

Edited by Jimenez (03 Apr 2017 11.21pm) We, the HOL, potentially are liable for comments posted that are criminal, slanderous or libellous etc. Every MP has a term limit, after which they must be re-elected. Much as I dislike Diane Abbot, if people vote for her, then she's an MP. I also don't like a lot of politicians but they are answerable to the people.
