Really? I can't believe you don't think the rhetoric of Brexit had zero effect on the rise in hate crime even though research has shown it has. I didn't know islamophobia was restricted to white people. Why would being black stop someone who was shouting I want to kill a Muslim before stabbing someone stop him being an islamophobia?

I just thought(hoped) the conflict might melt your brain.

So far in hrolfland... ITV news panders to minorities, some ethnicities have more importance than others. The cause of all this country's ills is immigration and it's fun to take the piss out of people who are struggling. No wonder you got short shrift on the BBS.

But bubble had a point, even those seen as relatively well off are going without.

Back to the thread topic.

Is shouting 'I want to kill a Muslim ' before stabbing someone Islamophobic?

Sorry to disagree (again) but when considering the size/maturity of our economy relative to the living standards that many many face today, then this country is poor.

Your misquoting and grip on reality in general are reaching critical levels.

Sorry, I thought it was de riguer on here from reading your posts. You can dish it out but not take it back. Is that another reason for leaving the BBS?

It's fine that you disagree. I would agree that wealth distribution is not as good as it could be but to suggest that anyone, baring a tiny minority, are suffering genuine hardship is ridiculous.
Bubble's post sums it up nicely and with a degree of humour lacking from some around here.

How many times have I told you that I have not left the BBzzzz.
I rarely post on there because it is pointless to argue with left wing zealots and their friends who prefer their own little echo chamber.

It's a easy picture to paint if that's your agenda. And of course everyone's poor if they want more money.

A significant portion of the UK conveniently forget that they're pretty well off while observing the horrors of poverty and the excesses of those £1 ahead of them.

There is inequality in people living in damp bedsits relying on foodbanks being from the council and DWP's perspective economically identical to those in decent accommodation. Or people paying market rate for a worse place than they'd get for free.

I suppose that then all boils down to housing or lack of. The council paying an amount to landlord to house someone which realistically should leave a surplus food budget for a family of 6 is absurd. Bedroom tax probably wasn't the way forward but councils should be dipping in to their war-chests to streamline the system and ensure housing is up to scratch. No one operating that inefficiently should be allowed to blame their budget.

I used to go to college next to a homeless drop in centre where a fellow student used to go to get the leftover Pret sandwiches. I think you'll find uptake of anything free will perpetually be at its highest. Do you actually have to show documents for a foodbank? The figures show many working people now use them which is even worse.

I can't really believe we're questioning capitalism still. The bottom end of the spectrum, whereby we pay this pathetically low 'universal credit' is while similar, probably a better deal than previously offered in most communist countries. Any system needs to look after the needy and reward some more than others otherwise why bother.

That said it's impossible to create a fair system. How would you make it undesirable for someone to deliberately render themselves a permanent beneficiary of the state by multiple teen pregnancies for example, without punishing others?

In 2016 no one should be poor but capitalism is not a perfect system. Neither is any other system so far invented.

To compare Britain now to 100 years ago or beyond is insulting to those who lived in poverty back then.
