Not sure if anyone at any stage on this thread said that they are massive fans of Hamas. However, the likes of you Matt and you Stirling have backed Israel to the hilt despite the fact that they are not defending themselves they are mass murdering hundreds of people.

The Israeli response has been excessive at times but, whilst not justifying it, is a product of the circumstances they find themselves in, surrounded by largely hostile neighbours and a warring opponent whose charter states that its goals are the destruction of its country and her deaths of as many Jews as possible on the way to achieving that goal. If you were living in Beersheba and rockets were continually raining down around you, plus Palestinians threatened to kidnap you and your family through a network of tunnels, you would demand your government took action.

So, do you agree with the Palestinian unilateral breaking of the truce?

Now for balance, I think Matt, Sterling and Hoof should name their favourite muslim hit comedies and stars.
.....Mmmmm I always liked Nina Wadia....Sexy when she was young.....But she's a Parsi not a Muslim. Errr....Adil Ray is talented but Citizen Khan isn't actually all that good from what I've seen of it. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Aug 2014 8.44pm)

I've seen bigger pot holes in New Addington than the damage some of the primitive Hamas rockets caused. How many people were actually killed by the fireworks masquerading as rockets that Hamas launches? Meanwhile Israel drops ten times more explosive than was dropped on Hiroshima on Gaza but that seems to be OK for you as it was aimed at Hamas!

So, do you agree with the Palestinian unilateral breaking of the truce? The problem is the nutters in power (or at least in military control) on both sides. Why didn't Thatcher emulate Israel with regard to Northern Ireland. That would've helped, no ?

Yet again, you are using misinformed emotive guff to highlight your skewed views and accusing others of 'exaggeration'.

So, do you agree with the Palestinian unilateral breaking of the truce? The truce ended when negotiations did. Neither side gave way enough to satiate the other sides demands. I don't agree with Hamas firing rockets, apart from being as useful as passing in the wind, it only leads to reprisals However, that is their chief negotiation tool whilst Israel refuse sovreigncy and open borders. I also think that Hamaseseses refusal to stop firing rockets shows how desperate things had become for Palestinians in Gaza. Don't forget, Israel have a say in pretty everything or anybody crossing the border. I've read some say that Israel have been slowly starving Gaza by controlling the calorific intake. A bit disbelievable if you ask me, but probably has some truth in it.

They are ongoing and Hamas unilaterally ended the truce hours before it is was due to end, and probably, be extended. Your second paragraph is skewed logic. If things had truly got as desperate as you said, we would be looking at the third intifada. We are not. Therefore, one can only assume this is part of a PR war being fought by Hamas to sustain power and they don't seem to care a jot about how many Palestinians are killed in the process. Given your practice of believing pretty much anything that is published on lefty blogs/websites, please accuse my complete dismissal of e last part of your last paragraph. I note that you have chosen to ignore the items raised in my response to your previous post.

I've stated many times the problems I've had with Israel's actions....If you have fully read the thread you have just completely ignored this. It's frankly a bit of a joke to suggest that the IDF haven't been criticised. I can point to sections of this thread where attacks against Hamas have been defended and their charter defended and portrayed as less extreme than it obviously is.

You have only referred to one bullet point in the Hamas charter. Why aren't you discussing rather than dismissing out of hand.
