A good online poll suggestion: would you prefer a severe Covid infection, or to have to use Windows 11? Close run thing I reckon.

Nice try but the virus is getting weaker. So weak that an 80 year old with dementia doesn’t even know they have a cold. I can understand the frustration with the lack of tests. But then it’ll be lack of full sick pay and furlough. If I was at risk I’d have FFP3 masks and maybe stay away from certain situations during waves/peaks. I agree on ignorant parents. The women these days in cars should be banned from driving during pickup and drop off times. I agree. The virus is getting weaker. Coupled with the fact the really vulnerable are probably dead already.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Where is the science that any virus variants HAVE to get weaker over time?

I don’t give a s*** about who’s wrong or right but seek some help if you are getting sick or anything unusual in the middle of July (like many people I know). This includes persistent cold/flu like symptoms and heart related or anything out of the ordinary. There are things that can be done. PM me if you want although I’m no doctor. The women these days in cars should be banned from driving during pickup and drop off times. Is it getting weaker, or are the vaccinations just mitigating its impact? Whatever is the truth, there is little doubt the number of infections has markedly increased. Whilst the impact on individuals is now generally much milder, the impact on the NHS is not. It's putting it under tremendous strain, for two reasons. Firstly, because of staff absences. The NHS is significantly understaffed at the best of times, but having large numbers off work with Covid means many things cannot be done, causing further backlogs. Secondly, because of the need to care for Covid positive patients separately and differently. This limits numbers, forces wards to be re-organised and staff re-deployed. A friend of mine had a heart attack 15 years ago and had stents fitted. He now has regular blood tests to confirm all is well. Last week, after a test, he was summoned urgently by the hospital because his test result indicated he had had another attack, which he was unaware of. Further tests suggest the stents are becoming blocked and need replacing, so now he is in hospital, being observed to await this procedure. However, because of staff shortages and a queue of 18 in front of him, he will be there for at least 3 weeks. Taking up a bed just because of the delays caused by Covid. It's the impact on the NHS which is important, and not the impact on individuals. It always was, but even more these days, now most of us (at least the responsible ones) have been vaccinated.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

It's had over a hundred years to produce a stronger strain. Viruses evolve all the time but so do immune systems. Stronger strains can happen but it's just unlikely over time. A new virus will emerge that kills a lot of healthy people....it happens generationally....even when it's not cooked up in a lab. But the reason it'll kill a lot of healthy people will be do to our immune systems not recognising what it's dealing with....rather than an old virus developing a stronger strain. This clip was made when Jeremy Hunt was still in the running for PM. I think after watching it I now understand why Wisbech was such a fan of his:
