Seeing deliberately severe sentences being handed down quickly to deter yobs, the impressionable and the misguided from making fools of themselves, threatening and injuring the police, destroying property and frightening people, is unreservedly welcomed.

No law breaking can be ignored, but prioritising some over others when circumstances demand they must, is a sign of a responsive and flexible system that is very much fit for its purpose. Which is to protect us from harm.

What the origin of anything was is completely irrelevant to what it now means to any individual. You are fully entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to determine what other opinions are. That you think it represents terrorism doesn’t mean it does to Mrs Brown who uses it as a table cloth. Get a grip on your prejudice!
