The whole thing is getting rather boring now with the Palace forums and click bait pimps just going round and round in circles. I think that it's fairly obvious now that Roy is going and it's equally obvious that Parish can't make his mind up what to do next. Parish has also forgotten that once upon a time he used to be a fan who was hungry for information too why it that obvious? perhaps he is looking at and interviewing a few different managers before choosing?

No doubt the managers we have heard of will also be hoping for bigger clubs whether that is realistic is another matter. Parish will not want to offer the job unless he is sure it will be accepted. As the season has not ended I expect that both sides see no urgency. Rumour is that the Celtic job is Howe's why has he not taken it maybe he thinks he has a chance with Spurs or Newcastle or Arsenal.... I think Roy was pretty keen to take the job for various reasons I'm not sure the shortlist feel the same although hopefully I am wrong. I suspect we will get one of them but we maybe their second choice.

My only concern is that, the close season is not that long, when you want to recruit a new manager, new players and possibly introduce a new playing style

Seems one of 'our' top 3 shortlist is favourite for the Spurs job, according to the #defundthebbc
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Gayle, Wan B sold and Eze will no doubt be next along with Zaha. Yes, Roy should retire gracefully and we thank him. But we've only survived season after season and it's not much fun. Owners get yer wallets out or piss off. The fans pay their way now you do the same. what he said

I for one think it's good that lips are sealed all round and everything is being kept secret. This is respectful to Roy, who greatly deserves it. I suspect Roy and Steve P have already agreed his exit plan. The main contenders have probably been reduced to a shortlist of three, and I would think the job has been offered and maybe accepted already. It is right to delay any announcements until some potential contract issues have been ironed out and maybe even some incoming signings sounded out. I like the way Steve P does his business (although like everyone else I'd like some real progress on the new stand!).

It would be pretty disrespectful to announce Roy's replacement before the end of the season (if he is indeed leaving). It would undermine his authority and distract from the final games. What benefit does it afford the club to announce anything now, other than to stop the rumour mongering? I hope Roy leaves just because the football has been woeful at times this season, but like most people (I think) he has my upmost respect for bringing stability to the club when we really needed it. I also hope we can squeeze out a few results before the end of the season so he can leave on a high. Going back to the OP, I'm not sure there's any truth that a deal with Frank has already been agreed, but when I look at what seem to be the main three candidates - Lampard, Howe and Dyche - you can see merits in all three. Fonseca seems a very leftfield rumour perhaps drummed up by his agent, although he could potentially bring the most entertainment to the club in a Pardew-esque manner! I wonder what Wilf feels about not being the main talking point heading into the summer?!

I don't see why it would be disrespectful at all and it's fairly common in industry and commerce if a senior person is retiring to announce his replacement in advance. I also don't see that it would undermine his authority We should have our squad plans in place by now but how can we attract new players if they don't know who they will be playing for next season
