Agreed - I think that was incredibly harsh on Mitchell. I didn't see any contact at all with feet, and can only assume it was contact with the leg? Didn't see any replays - quite dodgy IMO.

Never a pen, Marriner on var would not have given Wilf that and foul on Ayew before 4th , having said that got exactly what we deserved. Losing 2-0 bring on Luka, at least Jairo tries to play the ball forward. If the powers that be think we have enough strength in depth, they are mistaken

No ambition from us today - even the first half we were poor. How Ayew stayed on for 90 minutes I don’t know. Substitutions was baffling as well. Just a very, very poor performance. Bit like the end of season last 8 games? Sakho started it with poor defending but in truth we were never in it even at 0.0. Need a much better performance next match or knives will be out for Hodgson. Zaha also poor as he was last match. Don’t mind losing to a better side but only when we give it a go and today we didn’t :-(

Sakho is just an embarrassment at this point of his career. Should be on the bench from now on. Gifted the first goal. Outplayed for the header on the second goal. Stupid penalty for the fourth. He had actually given up another free header earlier in the game.

I'm still not seeing very much out of Mitchell either. Never mind the penalty, as the match was over at 2-0. He just looks below average to me. Nothing going forward, gets beat often, not physical. At least PVA provides offense. He's not terrible, but doesn't look like he belongs at this level.

Sakho was awful, Mitchell struggled and McCarthy and McArthur couldn't pass for sh#t. No pressure on Chelsea's defence and not enough movement or energy. Chelsea got a bit lucky with all but one goal, but they were fully deserving of.the win. They realised that if they kept three defenders back and made tactical fouls we had little to offer. Having said all that, Chelsea away is not a game that will define our season, but more worryingly is the fact we reverted to playing turgid football.

For me, Riedewald has to start as he is the best passer in the club and it might mean we can hold the ball for more than 3 passes. He was also the best player in preseason.

Now let's all hope Parish realises we still need some quality signings.

Abysmal , absolutely no fight in this side. 1st. pen. no contact, terrible decision. Ayew should have had one too. No excuse for the 2nd. half performance though.

Really? Away from home we always keep it tight in the 1st half. Doesn't make us not very good though! 2nd half is generally a little more offensive. Being still in the game is always what you after surely.

Can I retract that!

Disciplined, efficient 1st half. Lethargic 2nd half. If Sakho hadn't slipped/hitched, we might have had enough spine to earn a point. But no.

Ayew should feel aggrieved at the two late no-calls. One cost a goal at our end, the other a PK chance for us.

I don’t mind getting beat - wasn’t expecting anything from today anyway and most of us would have excepted 6 points from our first 4 games given who we had to play and our current injuries.

But and there’s always a but, to go down 4 zip without even giving it a go is so annoying and that’s down to the Manager afraid to say..!!

Eze looks like he is comfortable at this level could be a real star - probably the only positive from today.

Only other positive you can take is that now hopefully Hodgson/the club will realise we still need some additions to the squad in this window.

Centre half definitely and a forward Ayew looked like little boy lost today - I know we have Bats to come back in.

My birthday weekend too - gutted..!!

I keep saying it, but I'll say it again...we need a creative central midfielder. MacArthur and McCarthy do a good job, but they haven't got an ounce of creativity between them. On the rare occasions we got the ball today we just kept passing it sideways and backwards nobody had any idea how to play a killer pass. We're still relying far too much on zaha to do some magic to win us games.
