If saints play with such a high line, they will get murdered this season.
Thought we defended well, keeper was great.
Good finish for the goal , but Zaha not even hitting the target at the end is one of the reasons that a top team isnt interested. Eze looked decent when he came on.
Good 3 points.

I watched the game and he certainly completed more than one pass to a team mate.

It's impossible to be able to complete only one pass in eighty one mins I cannot believe that.

I thought Schlupp played OK and generally I think he’s an asset to the team.
I was a bit worried about James McCarthy. I know he likes to get stuck in but how many free kicks did he give away? He had to come off because the was on the ref’s radar for sure.
The offside goal was wierd. It was like all their players just froze.
A good win. I thought Soton were poor but you play the team you get. I’m sure our next game will be a better test to see if we have shaken off the end of last season.

Saints expected to win easily as their faces told.

So did I!
Brilliant win. Think we did our best but were lucky to win in the end. Given our end of season form, injury list and late recruitment could not expect anything better. Think sheer guts got us through it.
Eze looks great but has more development to do. I think he is a little slow to release the ball and, if he plays from the start of games will be caught in possession a little too often. When he speeds up his control a bit he will be a starter until then he might need to be content with being an impact sub.

Back to our pre-meltdown 1-0 form. Also, good to finally beat Soton at home especially on the 3rd anniversary of Roy's first game (present but not in charge) a 0-1 defeat against the same club.

I think Bats is being saved for next week and our trip to the 'theatre of...'. I suspect Eze will come in for Schlupp after his little cameo today

COYP!!!!

Shame he dilly-dallied with the ball instead of being as clinical as he was with his goal, quite a frustrating player really he should be scoring and creating far more then he actually does.

What I am saying is in 81 minutes of a football match he managed to complete 1 pass. Are you happy with that?

How is it impossible? He just did it. He attempted 9 passes and 1 actually went to his own team mate.

McCarthy is an asset to the team, but similar to Luca. He does a lot of the unglamorous stuff, kept Ward Prowse quiet.
