only caught the end of this discussion about why things are improving - money, infrastructure? I reckon grass roots football has changed - 'clear your lines and play your football in the final third' has given way to 'pass and move' at youth level and in the lower leagues - to cut a long story short I credit the change chiefly down to one man, fools may laugh: Arsene Wenger. Grassroots football is definitely changing and the traditional physical game is now being replaced by more technical play. This is what professional clubs want - for a progressive grassroots coach (kids level) it's about development rather than just winning trophies - the trophies will come later when the kids growing phases even out - take a look at some Sunday league games sometimes the 'best' kid on the park is actually just the biggest but not technically the 'best'. This evens itself up when the technical little kids grow. The money has filtered into the Academies and the facilities at Cobham, Hale End and Motspur Park are fantastic. If Palace can develop Beckenham to match then we should prevent the other London clubs hovering up all the South London talent. Hopefully the next stage in the filtering down of the cash will be to the grassroots level - getting a spattering of new 4G pitches and facilities around the areas would benefit no end to raising the nations game in the future. At least the kids will learn the passing game on a flat surface!

So this story as expected is the same as the Lib Dem view of Brexit
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
