The quickest bowler I have seen this year is Olly Stone at Warwickshire but he suffered a bad injury last year and has struggled this year. I saw him bowl 92 mph in a T20 this year and he looked rapid. If only he could stay fit.

Yes I agree. All of our top bowlers could actually bowl much quicker but they would lose their accuracy and be badly punished as a result. Looking at the wider picture, from experience and what I hear from relatives in Australia, interest in cricket 'Down under' is not as high as we in this country believe. The 'Mood music' is of cricket being the main game in those parts but actually in the main, Rugby League, Rugby Union and in certain parts Aussie Rules are far more popular and given greater coverage in the media. The attendances for the Big Bash and the Boxing day tests at the MCG would indicate it's still very popular. It's probably one of the sports with the same level of popularity across the country too as NRL, AFL, and Rugby Union vary quite a lot state by state.

Okay. I don't think it will affect his visa at all. I also think he'll go, and play, even if charges are looming. The only way I don't see him going is if he's both charged for something and the case is set to be heard during the Ashes. For me what Rooney was charged with recently was worse and he was back playing for the team a week later, and he would most likely still get picked for England next week if he hadn't retired. I think you owe me a virtual frothy one.

No perhaps about it - you said he'd be on the plane - I said he wouldn't - and we had a pint on it and I'm virtually thirsty.
