You are so full of s***. Mentioning Stephen Lawrence was a clear give away(as if we needed one) that you were salivating at the prospect of highlighting a supposedly post Brexit White attack on foreigners. The press will probably play up the white people involved because it makes a much better, PC story and whoever was involved, black or white, and even if it was racially motivated, it is just one of dozens of street attacks that occur every year, many of which are carried out by non whites. Given that, you are clearly making political gain out of one persons misery by misrepresenting reality, which in itself is reprehensible. Please try, for just one day, to stop being such a f***ing hypocrite. Edited by Hrolf The Ganger (03 Apr 2017 5.44pm) er..I haven't alluded once to Brexit on this thread - well in your imagination I have - but I have alluded that it was most probably a racist attack (which you have been trying to steer in a different direction for your own warped reasons no doubt). Hence, the comparable mention of Lawrence. If you make things about up why I have said something then of course you can find 'hypocrisy'. Well done you. But if you stick to what i have actually said,in context, and why then you will find it more difficult. So, Hrolf, not only a weasel out'er but also a purveyor of falsehoods. You are not quite the honest, plain speaker and clear thinker you like to portray yourself as, are you? Anyway, shouldn't you be looking for a "bully" to hug and show him/her the error of their ways. Edited by Kermit8 (03 Apr 2017 6.30pm) I tell you what Kermie. Based on all your posts, I'll let others decide what your Stephen Lawrence post was about and how it relates to your general attitude toward Brexit and related subjects. The people can decide. A sort of Kermit referendum.

Front page of tonight's sub-Standard cries "FIND THEM!" and shows pics of three people still wanted for questioning about this attack. Shame it didn't also find room for the mugshots of the tax-avoiding owners of the Mail, Express and Sun too, whilst haranguing them for the fear & loathing they've helped to engineer in recent years.
Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune) |

Having the seen the pictures of those who are wanted for this attack, I doubt that any of them were readers, either regular or infrequent, of the periodicals you mention. Do you really think the papers wield so much power these days? When circulations are falling and 'news' is being provided and consumed in very different ways. I suspect that the root of the violence, is a mixture of many of things, but I do believe that stating that the owners of papers have 'blood on their hands' is simply looking to the 1970s for reasons to explain today's world, which is miles off course. Social media is more likely to whip up Illinformed comment these days. May I suggest that you remove your head from your buttocks and examine the modern World. Edited by matt_himself (03 Apr 2017 8.05pm) Most newspapers have a large online presence so their impact can't be dismissed so off handedly imo. You are right about the impact of social media.

Think some of the youngsters around Shrublands are in a nasty & dark little world. Only they'll know if it was because he was an asylum seeker.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Edited by matt_himself (03 Apr 2017 8.05pm) Thanks for the advice Matt. I'm more than comfortable with the range of sources I use when my head is in clear air, which (given my lack of spinal flexibility) is 100% of the time. Of course, the Sun's owner also has Sky under his wing, which has a level of ubiquity that the print media does not. I'm also quite confident that social media doesn't form it's opinions in isolation. If you think that the incessant media narrative around fear doesn't have an influence on attitudes and behaviours in general, than perhaps it's you that's fortunate enough to be able to blessed with a flexible torso.
