Whilst genes may play a large part, early formative years of a child's life also have an impact. A debate for elsewhere. But both you and WE missed what I meant. I was calling out his dubious sources of research. A piece about calling poor people failures, answered by a poor failure. Regardless of the reason for failure, it's an echo chamber.

I didn't miss what you meant I was making a wider point that related to it. For me the value judgement of these things very much gets in the way....everything is relative, as one of our smarter humans taught us. Whether we are talking about early formative years, which is of course important...or indeed any other stage we can't exceed beyond what is there.....To restate the analogy, your body has a potential sprinting speed...it may be potentially faster than somebody else's....However, if another is close enough then good development over average or poor development may mean they equal or exceed yours. However, copper can't be turned into gold, no matter how much we may wish it so. Edited by Stirlingsays (19 Feb 2020 2.56am)

I pointed out that it wasn't my research at all as it was sent to me unsolicited by a friend. The only reason I shared it was to point out that there are many alternative opinions about Dominic Cummings and some of his previously expressed views. Views that have an aroma around them that many hoped had long been extinguished but wasn't commenting on myself. Picking up on a single response to the piece which gave a personal account of his own experiences is only the faintest of echoes which really ought, in my opinion, to have been ignored.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

The BBC has brought this on itself. All it had to do was be neutral about politics and Brexit but it couldn't. Oh and paying millions to Lineker, Norton etc.. doesn't help!

It has everything to do with ensuring that our primary national broadcaster is able to provide information, news and comment free of government or commercial interference. Paying for it via taxation means the government is writing the budget and ultimately overseeing the content. Whilst no-one likes paying for things they don't intend to use making sure we all pay something for the BBC's independence is the best of all the alternative options. As several enquiries have concluded in the past. The BBC has brought this on itself. All it had to do was be neutral about politics and Brexit but it couldn't. It's the mass majority of people running the institutions who are the real enemy. The BBC being the most obvious because it's beamed into homes. These are the people with the power......and now that Boris/Cummings are probably here for three terms.....They need to start sacking and replacing in all the institutions. Watch Toby Young get put in charge of a university somewhere.....that kind of thing. Then he gets to decide who works there.....that kind of thing times a 1000. You get the privilege of being called a racist by actual racists themselves.....By their definitions of course, as I don't buy into the childish game...because when you follow the logic through it doesn't make any sense. The truth doesn't matter, what matters is power.....it's always been the same. Meet the new boss, he's the same as the old boss. It's like a battlefield....It doesn't really matter whether you have the 'correct' view.....What matters is how powerful your weapons are relative to your opposition. I'm not giving up anything, and I intend the same for my children....let the idiots who enabled this do that.

I'm surprised that the BBC doesn't have a news service for people who speak street slang. Melanie Trump makes state visit to UK. Reporter "Yo bro she is fit man proper respect etc..."
