Time to relinquish the ostrich position and take off the blue and red tinted specs. I do wonder if these ridiculously optimistic posts, that you specialise and have specialised in, in this and your previous guises, are really sincerely held beliefs, attention seeking or merely trolling for a reaction?

Bottom line is the bottom line. Money. I'm sure if we had fifty million or so to spend on players then one or two of our targets would have come in. I presume we were haggling for loans or bizarre installments and conditions because we had to. Then again probably most of us thought Benteke was worth it at the time.

Benteke scored goals under managers Pardew and Big Sam,as he did for Villa and at International level with Belgium.

Said this for 2 years. All true, but our players are playing on the wrong wings. Neither of them cuts inside and scores like Robben. Put the left footed winger on the left wing and right footed on the right wing. Quite simple really.

Said this for 2 years. There were plenty on here who thought that so called "inverted wingers" were a great idea, despite our not having overlapping wing backs. Once we indulged Zaha and Townsend's desire to play on opposite wings to their natural footedness, the crosses and goals coincidentally dried up. If Hodgson can't see that we need to get some crosses into the box to score some goals then he's not much of a coach, whatever his record.

I do think there's a pathology among some Palace fans that's as dangerous to the club's fortunes as anything on the pitch. High wages, low transfer fees has been a strategy. It is deliberate. It's so far served us okay but isn't risk free (nothing is). I reckon our finances are slowly recovering from the horrors of recruiting Benteke and Sakho. That will allow a more flexible approach going forward. Perhaps it was visible in our attempts to get Ferguson and Bowen. We should have signed a right back (last summer). That was also an abysmal failure. I wonder if Jairo could help us out there. But we must guard against becoming the Charlton of our times.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

The worst for a so called striker by a distance. The rot started with several under De Boer. At the start of the following season he missed chances from two yards out notably against Southampton at home. Anyone who holds the belief that Roy is responsible for his decline should give up watching football. Benteke is gone in the head.

Could not agree more, he is a striker and can't even convert a penalty, he has completely lost it, since he has been with us he has become a very lazy player, he does not run enough or work defenders off the ball to create spaces for others, guess Klopp knew that and that's why he sold him, to be fair, he kept us in the league the first season but after that his contribution has been pretty poor for 27mil rated striker!
