What is being missed by the Roy supporters on here is that the game has moved on. Fast passing through midfield, overlapping defenders, high pressing, cynical fouls to stop the opposition. It is the way Liverpool and Man City have played for the last 4 or 5 seasons. Even Jose has realised that his ultra defensive style was out-moded but he has adapted and you can see that in some recent Spurs matches. Bielsa, Potter, Santo, Lampard, Arteta are all working on the same principles. The modern way is so different to how we play and not every team is built on the multi squillions that some think is the only way you can play a different brand of football. Get with the new way of playing or stagnate until every team in the league overtakes you or works out how to break you down. There are only two teams in the league that play as Palace do and the other is Burnley. Fulham/West Brom try but are not good enough, Southampton look good going forward but can't defend and Sheffield Utd are being found out this year by the look of things. There may be 3 worse teams than us fortunately but that is the only way I can see us staying up playing the football we do. We are a dinosaur in a new wave of football. I know, what is coming, there will be the normal bleats that our players are not good enough to play any different, but I don't buy that. Our players do what they are told and Roy ultimately decides who we buy, who plays and how we play. I don't need to go into the arguments for players being left out or out of position because we know them already and they have been done to death. You know what senior pros think of us when the highest praise you hear on tv is that Palace make it difficult for the opposition, which is short for we play a boring brand of park the bus.

What is being missed by the Roy haters on here is the fact that all his supporters understand fully that he is not going to be around for very long, the trouble we supporters of him have is that when the new man comes in we are a financially stable club and this is what Mr Hodgson is achieving, it is quite obvious that all his supporters want the same thing that all his haters want ...which is attractive attacking football.

Very well said and over the years, none of our previous managers who have included peacocks, dancers, dinosaurs and chancers, have given us the stability of Roy.

Atm, Roy despite the truly awful style of football is what the club requires, a sizeable proportion teams in the FL won’t survive this season with the ongoing crowd and revenue restrictions. The one and only priority for our club is to stay in the Prem, however ugly the football is, The saving grace is we don’t have to witness it in person.

When will one of you offer up a suggestion as to who would replace him? So far I have only read of two proposals. Howe, can't survive a relegation struggle. Dyche, plays a similar style to ours. Make a proper suggestion if you want to sack the manager. Or do we just hire anyone, then sack them when they lose a game? Like Watford did......

Why should we, that’s the clubs job, however If you want suggestions I would take Bielsa or Santo in a heartbeat. You have to remember Roy will be gone soon whatever. Sack is a very dramatic word to use, he needs to be replaced and the decision is an important one. Watford’s owners don’t understand football so comparing us with them is a poor choice. Some of their managers were decent to be fair (excluding Pearson of course who is just a thug).

With so many players around 30 years old, can we consistently play this high energy pressing game needed to start on the front foot ? I thought this is why we were supposed to be bringing down the average age of the team ? (2 permanent signings later, with one still injured). I suspect Roy is here until he decides to call it day. Then we will be in the frantic mess for a new manager we normally are in. The voice of reason. I remember the game at home to Brighton last season we tried to press them from the start and got in a right mess. Could you imagine Bielsa football with our group ? We’d have about two fit players by November.

Oh yeah, I forgot, he's itching to get away from the club he got promoted! Santo, of course! He's ready to walk out of Wolves! You idiots live in a dreamland. Watford owners might not understand football, so they replace a lot of managers, and that unsettles the team, which eventually leads to relegation. Shall we copy them. Get a grip you morons.

It all seems black or white regarding Roy. What about something in between? Like he loosens up a bit, put on substitutes when needed, not when the game is over? Get a little bit of creativity in midfield and not place newcomers meant to strengthen the team (Batman) on the bench game after game. Like Villa did in the 7-2 trashing of the Champions - got Barkley on loan and two days later he was an important player in the shock win of the decade.

On Saturday we had four attacking players on the pitch and none of them performed. I thought all four were poor. Not down to tactics - none of them did anything with the ball and surrendered it far too easily
