Would suggest that our biggest problem is that whilst we played 3 defensive midfielders our central holding player did not attempt a tackle. Liverpool were playing over him, rather than through him making him completely anonymous. You're not wrong. Those stats are awful!

Just seen we got a record tonight and NOT a good one... "Crystal Palace failed to record a single touch in the opposition box against Liverpool, the first side to do so in a Premier League match since Opta have full data for this statistic (2008-09). Distancing." BBC Indeed. Under-strength team,Zaha departing early, some players who have hardly featured for us recently and they found it rather hard going.

Just for the record, Roy didn't make any excuses. He acknowledged it was hard losing Wilf, but he said Liverpool was so sharp and their goals were such high quality that our line-up wouldn't have made a difference. (I think Hennessey looked as rusty as an old anchor, but Guaita wouldn't have made much difference.)

" quite a good job "? what colour are the moon's on your planet, seriously. Originally posted by jeeagles
We've got the 9th highest wage bill in the league. An expensively assembled squad, and we are currently the 10th longest serving team in the premier league. We should be mid table. The only real metrics we are struggling on is the size of the stadium restricting revenue. Don't get me wrong. Liverpool were fantastic, but from the team selection to the energy levels, we just rolled over for them. Roy's done quite a good job. Hes steadied us, he's no messiah and certainly has massive flaws. When he goes we need to make sure the next manager has something good to build on.

Yes that was painful to watch. We must not overreact, they were full strength and we were short of a few players. Simply not good enough .....no touches in the opposition box for 90 minutes and we mustn’t overreact. I am glad you are so relaxed about it, I certainly aren’t!

Yes today wasn't great but there's a lot of factors to that than just the rubbish 'not even trying' nonsense. Those out of date 20 year old tactics have got us safe with 8 games to go. Probably something we've not done in 20 years. Shock horror. One of the best teams in the world playing a full strength team beat a midtable team with key players missing. Onto Burnley. Our pitiful performance made them look good, shameful!

A player whose defensive frailties we have seen often during his time at our club.

We missed the physical presence of Benteke as any long ball played up front to alleviate pressure just came back at us.Van Dyck hardly broke sweat.
