Called it.

Roy totally bamboozled them by employing exactly the same tactics as every other week then PVA scoring a free kick from our only enforced change.

But that wasn't the same as every other week. Rather than playing completely passively we actually pressed the opposition and played positively in possession.

3 welcome points. Frustrating that there was only one goal, and that from a dead ball situation. How Ayew could do with a partner who works as hard as him, what a difference that would make to our overall game. Benteke must have some clause in his contract that gives him a start, I cannot understand how he gets a game, his work rate is a disgrace.
Nevertheless, very welcome, and a good sign for upcoming games.

Meh. Played at home against a very weak team. Should have had 20 chances.

h
Have to admit Ayew had a good game today but his last few appearances have been poor. Struggles to get back and defend when we aren't in possession and exposes our RB constantly. Not defending Benteke but he does hold up the ball well and wins his fair share of headers but misses way too many easy chances. Mystified why his contract was extended!

They set up poorly against us, let us play to our strengths and their fans will not be happy. We were able to boss the midfield mostly because we were three against two in the middle. Because of that midfield control we were able to push on and pressure them up the pitch which we haven’t been able to do against other teams.

Yes we we were by far the better team today but I don’t think we will get such an easy game against Brighton and Watford. On the massive plus side Villa and Bournemouth lost and we probably only require 2 wins from 11 now as I think 39 points will be adequate.

We won and we controlled the game, should have scored a few more and won very comfortably .We didnt win because they let us win we won because we deserved to win.

Fact not fiction.

We had umpteen chances to score. We weren't clinical enough to kill the game early. Anyway, happy with 3 points.

Lucky win. Played against the poorest team in the PL in terms of possession and attacking football (yes, much poorer than Norwich).

11 matches to go, still a long distance. Other matches won;t be as easy as against Newcastle. But perhaps the team can gain momentum

Next year definitely should be something else and I have no faith in the possibility of the management to make a good squad.

Did you actually watch the game. That was not a lucky win. We were clearly the better team throughout and their goal keeper was their best player. We played well today. We played higher up the pitch especially in the first half. Enjoy it and let’s stop moaning FFS

Lucky win? Have a day off mate.
It was a one nil hiding, should have been 3 up at half time, we hit the woodwork twice and scored a great goal. They had a couple of efforts from outside the box, that was it.
They were poor, but not as bad as Bournemouth were.

My sons and I enjoyed the game. It had a good tempo and a great atmosphere. Our weaknesses have been well documented..We thought PVA, Ayew, Dann and Cahill were excellent today.

The rest did the team the world of good.

I think you are missing the point. If other teams set up like that against us I reckon we would win 8 matches out of 10. I already said we were by far the better team, but their formation helped us boss the game. Their tactics were poor or you could say they implemented their plan poorly, whereas our plan was good against that set up. Nothing to do with a team allowing another team to win
