The football money men benefited and the fan forked out a lot more from their working wages to pay for it. Edited by Stirlingsays (15 May 2019 6.43am) Unusually I have to disagree with you, the money has been pumped into better facilities, coaches and National Football centre all of which are now starting to bear fruit at Senior and junior levels. We've won more as a nation across all ages in the last 2 years then we have in the previous 40! That, better facilities and far superior pitches are the few good things about the influx of money.

Exactly. The success at all levels lately is in a large part down to financial investment to improve infrastructure. Like everything it’s swings and roundabouts but I think we are finally seeing a generation of players come through that have benefitted from those improved facilities that the extra revenue paid for.

Reckon he's talking to the Americans, not SP, since they're the ones sounding out investors. That's a finer point missed by the Thai media. Good chance he did a few of the things the junta alleged were an abuse of power (although perhaps not to the extent) but it's a junta doing the accusing and who knows the norms for wealthy, powerful individuals in Thailand? I don't. If he came, I think he'd take great care to make the vibe seem good. He'd be using us in part to gain popularity in Thailand. No change in style just like our current CEO!

Well, over the 12 years you mention we were still amongst the top teams in the world.....Whereas the Premier league has been going for 27 years and for most of them our performances have been woeful.....when we were promised an improvement: it was a promise built on warm words to justify what was really happening.. As for the semi final....we beat weak teams to get there and then lost to Croatia....a country with a population of what....around five million. The Premiership has been nothing but a money spinner for money men and it's taken the top tier of football...the original working man's game away from many of them. Saying that having a lesser pool of players to choose from is somehow better ignores the reality of what's happened in Germany......It also ignores how players of the past developed through the system....like Keegan for example.....Nowadays a Keegan wouldn't get to the Premiership until much later if not at all. Today's method works against late developers, which is a significant number of footballers within any system.....there are too few Vardys. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 May 2019 6.25am)

My moans are more holistic in nature......I'm on the side of it wasn't really worth it.....but then again, it would be better if I'm wrong and just being a curmudgeon because it isn't as though it's about to change. Edited by Stirlingsays (16 May 2019 6.26am)

only caught the end of this discussion about why things are improving - money, infrastructure? I reckon grass roots football has changed - 'clear your lines and play your football in the final third' has given way to 'pass and move' at youth level and in the lower leagues - to cut a long story short I credit the change chiefly down to one man, fools may laugh: Arsene Wenger.

I think probably yes it is paper talk, but may well be a number of Takshin stories before the end of the year. I shall wear a Palace shirt on arrival next Wednesday see if it gets a comment from Immigration

- Original reports say that Thaksin's 'agent' Miti has been having the discussions with the club on Thaksin's behalf. - Denial is that the club has spoken with Thaksin. Both statements could be true.
