Unfortunately Sir Geoffrey will be watching Jennings waving a stick of rhubarb squared up in front of the stumps this morning, liked or disliked. Hopefully he can get through it somehow and post a score. We can only hope so.

Has he got your tupperware or something? Possibly due to TV editing we no longer have his pitch inspections, his explanations of techniques which really gave me a new understanding. The only TV commentator I can recall where I really gained a knowledge of the game.

I would far rather listen to Boycott than that Isa Guha. All the others I find interesting, insightful and enlightening.

She is always very pleasant and has a nice smile - maybe experience will improve her standing as a commentator.

Watching the televised 20/20 games Sky often brought in a guest commentator from one of the teams playing and I was surprised at how articulate many of them were. Stuart Broad in particular could slot straight into a commentator's chair when he hangs up his bowling boots

S*** from Cook again. And whose bright idea was it to put Moeen in at number 3?

He is not a good test player and his performances over fifty tests average that out. We should be investing in players like Pope but instead we have gone backwards.

Someone who has talent as a commentator is Kevin Pieterson......I've seen him commentate on India twenty twenty and he's pretty impressive. But I'm not sure Sky would pick him up.....it's not about meritocracy, it's about who you are and who likes you from what I see, not sheer ability. A bit like the England team. Thank god for Boycott. He's the example of meritocracy over popularity. He says it how he sees it and doesn't try to grease anybody's wheels nor please others with sycophancy. As a viewer you appreciate a person who will stand up for 'England expects' rather than 'England accepts'.

Jennings....quality person by all accounts but just not good enough. Time for Burns to be given a chance perhaps.....with a look to possibly being captain....as it's helped his averages rather than suppressed them.

I think that ball would have got most batsmen, a 'shooter'very hard to defend. We must stop reviewing though because we are just 'hoping' it is not out. I put India well in the box seat here, but hoping I am wrong. Woakes please be fit for the last one. A thrilling series, pitches favour bowling IMO.
