From Sky Sports Transfer feed just now... TRANSFER ODDS Steven Caulker has been backed to join Crystal Palace, as news they might hijack his move to QPR came out. He’s 5/2 to join the Eagles, coming in from 16/1. He’s still 1/3 to join QPR. Check out all our transfer specials.

Rather depends on the distance. Sprint (triathlon) doesn't require any more stamina than football and possibly less. Ironman, obviously, is different. But in sport training, specificity is the key. If you want to run fast, you have to run fast. If you want to swim fast, you have to swim fast. If you want to be good at football, in the end you have to play football. There's less crossover than you might think. The only thing a triathlon will do for a footballer is probably increase the likelihood of a hamstring injury...one reason clubs put limiters about participation in other sports in player contracts.

Which equates to 80k a week ....I'd rather he goes to QPR I can't believe we will spend that sort of money on him.
Why, for the love of god why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Well, if this is true and he hasn't signed for QPR already then obviously the 20k difference has not yet been enough to convince him to join them so he must be hoping we, or someone else, comes in with an attractive alternative. Seems like we are still play...even seems like he would rather come to us than them if we could find a way to make it work. I have to say, I don't think QPR are an attractive prospect at all. Harry is on his last legs so the manager that signs you almost certainly won't be around for more than a year...the fallout from the poisonous reputation the dressing room had 12 months ago is probably still not totally gone in player circles...Barton is a loose cannon; I suspect a few players would not want to join a dressing room where he was a central figure...and they really don't have a lot of genuine Premiership talent. Basically, they snuck up with a lot of luck in the playoffs and they're in for a long, hard season where they'll be relegation favourites. We, on the other hand, may not pay as much but the entire league is raving about playing in front of our supporters, we finished in 11th place and are in a good position to push on, we have Manager of the Year in charge and a lot of players with blossoming reputations (Jedi, Yala, Gayle, Ward, etc.) Narrow, if not close the 20k gap and I'd join us over QPR too if I was Caulker.

If he is worth £8million at 22 add a couple of years under pulis who makes average defenders very good defenders imagine what he could be worth at 24. He has been touted as the future England captain by some people it would be a massive coup by the club and a player we will never lose money on he's only going to improve I think people forget his age.

If you look at the England defence, we have Cahill and jageelka, and then who ?i was talking about who could come through for the Euros and Caulker is probably one of the only real defenders i can see making the step up.Now if he was playing for my club, wow how brilliant would that be.

If TP likes him and he settles in with our culture and keeps fit, he will play all 38 league games. No rotation nonsense with TP. This should sway a move to us if he has any sense. Unlike most of the rubbish suggestions on here and ludicrous paper talks, this rumour has legs in that it is just the kind of player I guess TP would buy. British Isles born, EPL experience, hard working, no nonsense.
