Looking at the games left, Palace (7), Bournemouth (six) and Leicester(5) will have the biggest shout on who goes down. The numbers in brackets are number of relegation dog fights they each have. A draw in those for teams who already have points on the board is a good result. i.e. Us! But the other two sides need wins in those games to catch up. Uncoordinated, uninspired, no real attacking direction and just generally lost. Seems to be something very wrong there from an outsider's perspective and unless something changes I can see them going down and deservedly. As much as I may resent expressing it I was envious of the job Moyes was doing there and their seeming progression. That seems to have fallen apart quite quickly and disastrously for whatever reason.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

In recent seasons, some of the strikers they acquired have not delivered in terms of goals.

They can't do that much longer. For me an attack depends on far more than just someone charged with putting it in the back of the net however. As we saw under PV no striker is gonna get a goal when you scarcely venture into the opposition's final third let alone create anything remotely constituting a 'goal scoring opportunity'.

We can wait for the Leeds match in order to draw any serious conclusions.The fact that we had one shot on target in the last three matches in which Vieira was in charge and suddenly thirty shots in one half does say something.Individually we have decent players,what was totally missing during the latter period of the Vieira era was self confidence.Lets hope we are on the right way.COYP

If 2 wins is all that's needed to be almost safe from relegation, then surely any 2 wins would do; it wouldn't have to be 2 in a row. In any case, 2 wins by Leicester (for example) puts them on 31 points - nowhere near "almost safe".

9 teams below us haven’t averaged a point a game so far. Feels like it’s reasonable to assume that at least 3 of them won’t get more than a point a game for their remaining fixtures. That would mean 36 points would be the most for 18th place, we would need 36 or 37 depending on goal difference. 6 or 7 points from 9 games.

One of the 8 (Leeds) has averaged 1 point per game.

Not sure where you are getting your information but no team has been relegated on 38 points in the last 10 seasons.

I think you may be wrong. Several teams have been relegated on 40 points since the 22 became 20. West Ham was actually relegated on 42 in the early 2000s ... blooming shame!
