The government aren't terrified. They are fanning the flames in the media, because very bit of trouble becomes reason to implement tougher laws, closer monitoring, CCTV, identity cards.

The elites want to control everything about everyone, and they are blaming us !

I disengage, I turn the page.

Well, it's easy to think that way.

We have tough laws already. We have monitoring of persons of interest, the most CCTV of any Western country, and Blair wanted identity cards years ago.

I can only see greater use and broader interpretations of existing laws as a result of this.
They will use deception and threats for a while until it dies down a bit, with a few over lengthy sentences thrown in for making examples.

Labour are authoritarian by nature and government can never be trusted.

Remember what happened to Wat Tyler.

I realise the officers will do their jobs as instructed but surely there will be some kind of screening to exclude those whose behaviour shows concern?

I would love to see a feasible pathway out of this mess but don’t see anything that could bring anything quickly.

That was literally live on sky news. Muslim swore at camera and another made gun sign. Sky had to move quickly to get away. They are like locusts swarming.
