As I have stated many times, there will be an unofficial “amnesty” which would not be the first time. Not only will this clear the backlog, they will not need to clog up the appeal system. Oh and the left can say, “ we told you they were all genuine”. This is not an assumption this is based on my knowledge of the way the system works. Unfortunately it may clear the backlog but is a sure fire way of encouraging more and more to arrive The man has just deliberately misquoted what I said. I even broke my rule to correct him, and he still misquotes me in his next post If that doesn't tell people that he is on a wind up, then nothing will.

Isn’t this thread supposed to be about the tragic stabbings in Southport? I think you, amongst many others, went off topic a very long time ago.

Migrants in hotels don’t put money into the local community; holidaymakers do. So I wonder what the effect of this will be on the local economy. Of course, if you own rental properties you can be assured of an income stream from HM Government should they be looking to place migrants into landlord owned premises. I wonder if that is affecting your view of the migrant crisis… Of course they do. Hotels employ staff and buy supplies. My rental properties are full with settled tenants. All provided by the local council and not high street agents. If they wanted to place a migrant family in one then it would be subject to my approval and their contract, which includes undertakings on rent and repairs. I would have no overriding problem.

I think the point being made is that where the protest has nothing to do with the UK why should police resources be used to monitor it. The Black Lives Matter movement is a case in point; was George Floyd British? Was he killed on UK soil? Was he killed by a UK citizen? No on all counts yet rent a mob were soon out on the streets. The treatment of coloured people in the US is totally different to how they are treated in the UK and has been for a long time. That was the original point. That wasn’t the point I made in response.

How will those for the “amnesty” be chosen? It surely couldn’t be a blanket one, that would be too dangerous. Those with both father, mother and several young children? I wouldn’t want to be the officers tasked with this as it looks like an impossible job with no solutions but plenty of jeopardy.
