He and Zaha were taking the pi$$ at times with their clever little interchanges. You could tell from day one he is special, but that performance will help make him believe he belongs in the PL. I said it elsewhere but having a workhorse like Ayew up top also means it allows him more freedom to drift inside. I don't think you could play Eze, Wilf and Bats without being left a bit exposed. Keeping the opposition worrying about stopping us getting behind them will lessen their chances and confidence of being able to attack as a team themselves, getting this balance right for every individual team we face is a nice problem for Mr Hodgson now.

Best bit of business since we got rid of Sorloth. Speaking of Sorloth how’s he doing since he turned down Real Madrid and Man Utd ?

So True Constant defensive tactics deflates players, mixing with decent attacking options allows our defenders to have a breather and be able to read the game better and get it better tactical positions rather than constantly defending.. Confidence at long last!! Now thats a better result against Leeds than catching Man Utd on their 1st match of the season with no pre-season like we had and beating them.. Glad we got Southampton when we did.. Originally posted by Eaglecoops
IMO Tickled we made our own luck today and that has been sadly missing in previous matches. I agree confidence is a big thing but that game today proved that when we are positive we are much better than when we shut up shop and merely hope for a result.

With all due respect that is some garbage your are sprouting. The offside was very fortunate for us and our third goal was even more so, but I feel you think I'm being negative because I'm far from it, I just think Leeds made us look good ..where you feel we made Leeds look bad, garbage has nothing to do with it.

Bamford was offside according to the Laws of the game as illustrated by VAR.

As has been mentioned, in order to be so pedantic with the decision of offside then the line drawn across needs to be with a laser and the moment the ball is released prior to call needs as much attention as the incident in question itself, otherwise it's conjecture in total.

Clyne’s left arm definitely played Bamford onside as the line was drawn from the wrong position on the No 17’s sleeve. Kouyate also most likely played him onside too with either his left boot or left arse cheek, both of which were obscured from the camera by Bamford and as such not used for the calculations. VAR got it wrong...again!!!

Agreed, last season they demonstrated that there is up to a 14cm ‘margin of error’ because of the freeze frame technology and the distance travelled between frames. You also can’t rely on it for fine margins when the camera is at an angle and not in line with the last defender (as per the position of the linesman / Assistant Referee) - such as our game yesterday against Leeds. With the camera at an angle the drawing of the lines is guesswork at best. If it is to be used for offsides then there needs to be two further cameras on rails either side of the pitch, as in athletics when they track alongside the 100 metres sprint for example. You will then have more chance of drawing the lines accurately and also reduce the possibility of a player, such as Kouyate yesterday, being obscured from view by the camera angle. I don’t advocate this BTW, I would much rather it be binned at the earliest opportunity, but if it is to be persisted with for offsides, the technology and its accuracy need to improve dramatically.
