We lose Roy now at this stage and we will be a relegation team like no other relegation team has been seen, Roy is keeping us up you twits, we are in big big transition time. Transition must mean change yes? But nothing ever changes! We're treading water until the inevitable happens and we go down. It doesn't have to be like this. Roy is complicit in the club's strategy of just making do.

Villa should've been relegated with that unseen goal and Villa went into that match without any real hope of winning it didn't they, throwing players into that sort of game didn't show anything, they had three deflected goals that their keeper had no chance to stop and their keeper created an absolute mess for Villa's first, it just encouraged Liverpool to chase and chase and Villa to shoot and shoot with mistake over mistake, quite funny really couldn't happen to a better team lol. Indeed hilarious especially Henderson’s face. However to get deflected goals you do have to shoot, which is something we seem reluctant to do. Villa May have had nothing to lose but you could say the same about us in these games, but we always take the ultra cautious approach, would Roy have started Watkins? I am not sure

Nah.. we are not. When are never not in transition at this club. Roy could be doing more with what he has. He'll get us over the line im not saying he wont, He likely will. Doesnt mean I have to like Roy ball or have higher expectations. I seem to remember Steve P saying something similar once This

What is being missed by the Roy supporters on here is that the game has moved on. Fast passing through midfield, overlapping defenders, high pressing, cynical fouls to stop the opposition. It is the way Liverpool and Man City have played for the last 4 or 5 seasons. Even Jose has realised that his ultra defensive style was out-moded but he has adapted and you can see that in some recent Spurs matches. Bielsa, Potter, Santo, Lampard, Arteta are all working on the same principles. The modern way is so different to how we play and not every team is built on the multi squillions that some think is the only way you can play a different brand of football. Get with the new way of playing or stagnate until every team in the league overtakes you or works out how to break you down. There are only two teams in the league that play as Palace do and the other is Burnley. Fulham/West Brom try but are not good enough, Southampton look good going forward but can't defend and Sheffield Utd are being found out this year by the look of things. There may be 3 worse teams than us fortunately but that is the only way I can see us staying up playing the football we do. We are a dinosaur in a new wave of football. I know, what is coming, there will be the normal bleats that our players are not good enough to play any different, but I don't buy that. Our players do what they are told and Roy ultimately decides who we buy, who plays and how we play. I don't need to go into the arguments for players being left out or out of position because we know them already and they have been done to death. You know what senior pros think of us when the highest praise you hear on tv is that Palace make it difficult for the opposition, which is short for we play a boring brand of park the bus.

I'd agree with all of this. What I would also point out is how important it is to start a game on the front foot, particularly against good teams. If you just sit back on the edge of your penalty box and let them get into their stride, sooner rather than later they will break you down. Against man utd we started on the front foot and look sbat happened. But 9 times out of 10 we start really defensively and were lucky last season to get a run of 1-0 wins and managed to stay up. Cant help thinking how good we could be with a bit more adventurous play.

With so many players around 30 years old, can we consistently play this high energy pressing game needed to start on the front foot ? I thought this is why we were supposed to be bringing down the average age of the team ? (2 permanent signings later, with one still injured). I suspect Roy is here until he decides to call it day. Then we will be in the frantic mess for a new manager we normally are in.
