Classic Wayne.

Doesnt save one all night, finally pulls off a stop to their keeper, has a chance for glory and puts it onto the beach.

To all you who think Hennessey is better than Guaita, with VG in there we win that game, hands down.

PZ Eagle take note.

You don't know that at all. WH kept a clean sheet during the game which was all he could do. Could have saved the odd penalty in the shoot-out but then again our keepers have been crap at saving pens for years now. Yes his shot was abysmal but you don't know what VG would have done.

To make everyone feel a little better. Southampton just lost to Brentford 0-2.

Unlike us, they played their first team (basically the same team that played us).

Sorry but garbage.. WH did his job kept a clean sheet for 90 min , we would of won the game if RH had played some attacking football maybe ?

Instead RH used it as a pre season run out and the same old anti-football crap we had the misfortune to endure for the majority of last season.

Too right ... one shot on target in the 90 minutes doesn't show any intention to go further in the competition.

So on Saturday we narrowly beat a crap team at home. Nope, doesn't make me feel better

Let me check my Carabao Cup Givafockometer, it's working fine and on zero

if the cup competitions were "optional" it would be interesting to see how many / which clubs chose not to participate.

Optional or not, I think we can all agree that an away tie at City next week 2 days before Everton in the PL is far from ideal. That said, at least they could try to play a bit of football. One shot on target with our 2 brand new flair players in the starting line-up, plus Ayew and Townsend off the bench is pitiful against a decent side. Against Bournemouth it is beyond belief.

The possession stats are also dreadful, and although that is not the objective, it is difficult to score when you have not got the ball. This is not due to the players, but how they are being asked to play, and that comes from Roy. OK against Man U and Chelsea perhaps, not good against Bournemouth.

Could have given Scott Banks a run out, he seems to be doing well in the U-23s. Same age as Billy Gilmour and Frank has used him at Chelsea. Same age as Connor Gallagher who were allegedly trying to bring in.

Our record in penalty shoot outs is pretty bad isn't it?

Anyone remember the league cup 1st round vs Bristol Rovers in 2007?!

Gareth Southgate before his England miss took one penalty for Palace and missed it. I do not remember who it was against.

Those old enough will remember 5 penalties in our game against Br1-3ton where we only scored 1 of the 3 awarded for us and they scored 1 of their 2. John Pemberton's penalty was so high it would have cleared the Holmesdale Stand if it were there at the time.

I remember the game. I think we also equalled that record against West Brom, but scored more - I think we scored 1 of 3, they scored 2 of 2 - we still won something like 5-3. Didn't we still win the Brighton game too? I could be wrong.

I remember this well. It was away to Ipswich and he missed in the dying minutes. The ball seemed to hit the post then the keepers head and then out for a corner.
