Yes that was painful to watch. We must not overreact, they were full strength and we were short of a few players.
The fact he played Wayne shows me Roy thinks we have more chance to get 3 points against Burnley than we did tonight. How many of you moaned when we drew with city away then played dismally against Southampton at home a few days later? A draw tonight going full pelt then losing to Burnley is worse than losing tonight and winning next Monday.
Teams like us need to look ahead like this, we don't have the squad not to.

Mamma at the back looked his usual frightening self the odd flash of something outweighed by missed passes and bambi on ice defending.

One thing I we ould say is that Big Wayne probably not at fault. He was left hopelessly exposed.

Mayer looked lightweight and I just cannot see he is worth his huge wages.

Give the kids a go. Can't be much worse.

Agreed. Meyer was too easily muscled off the ball (as usual). Time to move him on unless he can learn to keep the ball better.

I hate the Scouse controlled media which makes any defeat to Liverpool more painful. With regard to the game with our injuries we had no outlet and no amount of effort was going to change that. Liverpool were comfortable but given they were at full strength and Salah and Robertson had been rested it was not a surprise.

If we have any aspirations beyond just survival next season then we need to spend money on players that fit our system. Roy really has worked wonders on a shoestring, threadbare squad but nights like tonight lay bare our limitations.

Yes today wasn't great but there's a lot of factors to that than just the rubbish 'not even trying' nonsense.

Those out of date 20 year old tactics have got us safe with 8 games to go. Probably something we've not done in 20 years.

Shock horror. One of the best teams in the world playing a full strength team beat a midtable team with key players missing.

Onto Burnley.

We've got the 9th highest wage bill in the league. An expensively assembled squad, and we are currently the 10th longest serving team in the premier league. We should be mid table. The only real metrics we are struggling on is the size of the stadium restricting revenue.

Don't get me wrong. Liverpool were fantastic, but from the team selection to the energy levels, we just rolled over for them.

Roy's done quite a good job. Hes steadied us, he's no messiah and certainly has massive flaws. When he goes we need to make sure the next manager has something good to build on.

Just seen we got a record tonight and NOT a good one...

"Crystal Palace failed to record a single touch in the opposition box against Liverpool, the first side to do so in a Premier League match since Opta have full data for this statistic (2008-09). Distancing." BBC

Yep! As was said during the SKY commentary, our success this season is down to our having beaten/not lost to the bottom teams. Indeed, as of Saturday post-Bournemouth we, along with Liverpool, have taken the most points off the bottom 6 (27pts from 11 games for us with 8 wins and 3 draws).IN other words we have taken just 15 points off the other 13 teams in the remaining 20 games (including tonight). We did the same last season with 16 out of 18 points off the bottom 3. That's how we stay in the league - beat/don't lose to the teams down the bottom, and, of course, win the occasional game against all odds like Citeh last season and Manure this etc.

Excuses aside ... we were no match for Liverpool and I'd like to think it was planned that way to give us the best possible chance against Burnley. Ooops there goes another flying pig!

If he wants to play for Roy, then like Zaha, Tekkers and Ayew last Saturday, he needs to be able to help out. However, my point was that on the few occasions he did have the ball and was trying to move forward, he was muscled off it more easily than most. I think Meyer would be good in a team that has a lot of the ball, and that isn't us.

That was painful. What I don't understand is after 3 months off and 2 games we are yet again in another injury crisis ?

Said in a nutshell. I will add, though:
1. Hennessey wasn't the problem at the free kick. Having two shorties on the end of the wall was an invitation to A-A to put it were he did.
2. Without Benteke as a target man and Wilf as an outlet, we had no chance.
3. Klopp paid us the compliment of putting out Liverpool's strongest 11. They were simply too good for us
4. Sakho has proven (to me at least) that the sooner he goes back to France and off our wages bill, the better.
5. Given the scarcity of current resources, I'm relieved we're safe and will be playing Prem football again next season (8th in a row!)
6. Finally, WILLO your doom prediction seems to have been the nearest to the result unlike my ridiculously optimistic 1-1

Would suggest that our biggest problem is that whilst we played 3 defensive midfielders our central holding player did not attempt a tackle.

Liverpool were playing over him, rather than through him making him completely anonymous.
