Bring it on. I've always enjoyed my Saturdays in the championship more than in the Prem. Wake up in the morning believing you might win the match, More matches for your money, and a greater chance of 3 o clock matches, Seeing young players being given a chance. Agree on all counts. Just be nice to compete again ... mid table drudgery is f*cking dull and that's putting it mildly

The true fan in me says that going down would not bother me too much for many reasons - most of which others have mentioned.

There are no positives about relegation, the value of the club as an asset would plummet, the current investors would cut their losses and asset strip, the clubs revenue stream would take a big hit, players would have to leave wholesale as we could not afford to pay them. Possible administration may follow and that would be a big concern. If we did survive then we would have to rebuild from scratch and that may take years with further relegation a real possibility. No please lets stay up even if it is by the skin of our teeth!

In any event we simply can't afford to go down. as I've said on this thread already, if we do drop down we may very quickly find ourselves in League 1 or even 2. It's a long way back from there even to the Championship and Palace have spent enough time in the lower leagues over the years

To enjoy the premier, you have to compete and get involved. We haven't for the past 2 seasons at least, we're just hoping it works out. We don't need to break the bank, but unearthing gems, attracting talent if only for a season as a stepping stone is all part of the fun. I feel all this coverage we have had, it's leading to somewhere, it's like boiling point... we are stagnating and I feel we need new owners to come in and say, "what do we need to do, to enjoy this experience". for now, I would say mid table and fun cup runs - we are only two or three players from that and I would, well, I did say on here, that summer just gone, we should have sold haha too, that way from AWB money included, we could have had around 70 mil (with left overs to invest on a new RB, attacking midfielder and striker). There's no point keeping wilf if he's marked out the game all season.

Going down wouldn't be too bad for me if I thought we could rebuild and get promoted again fairly quickly. My big worry is that there'd be an implosion. We'd have to sell the best (most costly) players and replace them with who? There don't seem to be any rising stars amongst the youth on the books (not that they're ever given a chance). Even in the unlikely event there's money available, who'd want to play here? Maybe they'd find one or two Albanians if the scouting system is working at all. It seems that in 7 years in the EPL there has been zero investment in the club. Treading water. So we must battle to stay up and ensure that this spell in the EPL will not be entirely wasted.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

Roy will resign which will enable us to employ a younger manager who will start blooding young players like Dreher, Kirkby, Perrick, Gonzalez (dubbed the next Coutinho in that Daily Mail article)- If we stayed up Roy will continue playing the 30+ aged players who will play to his disciplined ways. Which will mean we get bored s***less for the next 2 to 3 years!! Relegation will force changes which in the long run might be better for the club Change that to "Roy will be Sacked"
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |
