It appeals to a hardline group, that are very much motivated by politics that actively encourage intolerance, and hatred. I'm not going to say the Anti-Nazi league were angels, or that some of those who turned up were looking for a scrap. But there was also a very large section drawn from more political and social circles, who really weren't. You didn't tend to see that with the National Front. Maybe you have a different perspective but you would never see me squaring up to anyone at a demonstration.

I think the only demonstrations I've been on that really kicked off, were the Criminal Justice Act. Often violence is more around the periphery. You rarely see the 'professional anarchists' up at the front, because that's where all the cameras and police tend to be. At least these days. I suspect a lot of them meet up elsewhere, nearby and look to cause trouble. These day the protesters don't tend to have the kind of muscle you got 'back in the day'. When you had groups like the Miners and industrial trade unionists etc. who had their fair share of proper 'hard men'. Mostly at the front are the people with the pretty wide banners, the publicity seekers and celebrities.

And just to prove 100% non-whites can be vicious racist scumbags too, you gotta feel appalled what these victims are going through. The mobile phone footage is nasty.

Makes you want to weep....what we are turning into... Exactly what you did when commenting on the Croydon attack - when you assumed the perpetrators were white.
