Congratulations on a deserved PoM award. Joel has become a different player this season for the better. Not sure why but who cares. The guy is playing great and stands for everything new at Palace. Well done pal. Thoroughly deserved and yes I voted for you!!

Always a hero after his header off the line against Watford.

Have always thought the world of Joel.

Been a magnificent servant to the club and this season he has been an absolute revelation.

And always seems like a thoroughly decent bloke.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Great to hear he’s potm, always thought when we got promoted he would be up for a cap , never happened sadly, another year and he’s due a testimonial , he’s got to rate as one of our best signings back in the championship, always reliable and is now getting a second wind under pv

He really deserves to get Player of the Month. In many ways he deserves player of the decade. He has always been there in the thick of it, he cost next to nothing in present terms, yet his contribution in the time he has been here, would be hard to put a value on.
Joel’s, recent form has been a revelation in recent games, but isn’t that how much he reflects our club? Because our form as a team has been a revelation, and Joel has reflected where this club has been at ,at every step of its progress.

Massive congratulations to Joel.

Whilst I have long appreciated his defensive qualities, his commitment, loyalty, attitude, team work and tenacity, I have equally (over the last season or two) questioned his ability in terms of distribution and attacking play.

I fully acknowledge Joel’s contribution in recent games and warmly congratulate and thank him for the excellent performances which have earned him this accolade,

Well done Joel and long may this rich vein of form continue.

To me he had been a weak link for a while but it appears that PV has got the most out of him and like Jimmy Mac he is vastly improved this season.
What I do like is that a man of his age is still prepared to work harder than ever to make the most of his talent and to ensure that he still plays every week in the hardest League in the world.
That is something to be admired and is an example for younger players to follow.

Agree with everything here.

Love the guy, but always felt that after all these years in the prem we should have a more technically gifted, athletic full back on the field.

He's played like a man possessed this season. Massive credit to him.

Now instead of feeling desperate to have Ferguson fit (a player we've never seen play) we can let him come through when ready. Safe in the knowledge that if he displaces Ward, he's a very good player.

Concur with the general congratulations.

Truthfully think that his distribution and attacking play is ho hum for this level - just never saw it as a particular concern in how we used to set up and so rated him higher than most. He's always struck me as a smart footballer with top defensive instincts - it is normally him who gets to clear the ball off the line no?

Just add a hat tip to PV and Osian Roberts in finding a square hole where he can plant his square peg. Smart management to look at player attributes and work within their strengths and limitations. Got the best out of him for sure.

I must say I have been really surprised at how well he has played; he looks a thoroughly accomplished PL defender and it is also noticeable how fit he looks - similar to the rest of the team.
I actually voted for him so am delighted he won it; there were so many of the team who equally could have won it including Mitchell who has also vastly exceeded my expectations.

Echo everything said on this topic. Never heard his name sung-maybe I’m wrong.
Kind of player with management potential, but perhaps he’s too bright for that!
Well done Joel. A true professional and credit to the club.

Well merited have said before i dont know why some people seem to have had a downer on him.
Like Jimmy Mac a committed Palace player and his award a reward for his performance not just this season but through his time at Palace.

Well done Joel.
