basically, everyone was concerned that it would take time for new players to settle in and play in a new more possession-based style - well, it took about three weeks didn't it? getting 4 or 5 points from our first ten matches and having to keep faith with PV till the new year? Nope, we've dodged that bullet. With Hughes and Eze to come! well done Dougie, but SP bringing in Textor is a masterstroke, and you can see why Favre nearly took the job - SP kept his nerve and could sense (it seems to me) that PV knows what he's doing - crisis over.

Totally agree with you ex hib. Mr Parish first and foremost, Dougie and PV all made a massive impact. We look a completely different team this season in the way we're playing.

A lot of concerns expressed on here and in the media about how well, or even whether, we could adapt with so many changes in personnel and a new manager. It's pleasing to prove the doubters wrong.

Mustn't get carried away though, still very early in the season and, let's be honest, Spurs were awful yesterday. But, as you say we have Eze waiting in the wings and other newbies still to make a proper appearance. How exciting is that?

In recent times the words exciting and Palace have rarely been used in the same sentence! The Times They Are A'Changin' for sure.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Excellent start, but not yet done. I’m not sure we have genuine competition for places (so quality cover) in every position, so a couple more in Jan would be nice unless the youngsters in the U23 can step up in those positions.
I still think this season might be difficult, with a few rocky patches, but have confidence we’ll get it right and push on next season.

Agreed.
So proud of the work the club has carried out throughout the summer. I actually gave up watching the final 18 months of RH's tenure, listening to the games on radio instead, as it was so painful.
Watching the new version of football we're playing has once again become exciting!
Still early doors, with improvements to be made. But as starts go, this fan is very optimistic.

Squad Transition....work in progress, not job done.

But certainly heading in the right direction.

We have without doubt done very well so far with some really decent talent coming in. The job is far from done as PV keeps saying, we need to work and become more consistent. COYP

Far too early to draw any positive conclusions, particularly when so much of the positivity is related to one game in which we played very well but spurs really didn't.

We will know how successful the squad / tactical / managerial change has been at the end of the season at the earliest. We can then compare our outlay for our points total and league placing (plus all the less empirical stuff like enjoyment, hope, worry and disappointment) with our previous top flight teams.

We should all enjoy yesterday of course (I watched it with my spurs supporting brother in law, so I certainly did!) but not read too much into it beyond that.

We need to see how the younger players are developing, will Imray be good enough for RB next season, will wells-Morrison, Banks, be good enough to replace McArthur O´Brien, Baggypants, be good enough to replace kelly or tomkins, i think Rak-Sakyi will get game time this season, and the Mateta mystery is he ours or can we send him back if wanted, only the clubs know

Good start but it’s work in progress certainly nowhere near job done…..long way to go.

Agree 100% with this. Spurs are / were rubbish.
