Personally, I believe that we need to consider investing in new starters on both sides unless we're going for a 3ATB. I'm not a fan of bashing players but we're way too predictable on both sides. TM always turns and places the ball as close to the sideline as possible when receiving a pass from the back. Consequently, he has no other choice than to try to curl it around the opposing wingerin the hope of reaching Schlupp or Zaha who are tightly pressed by the defenders. As far as I'm concerned this is the most common way of us losing possession and it is all due to TM's reluctance to use his right foot. Looking at the other side, neither Ward nor Clyne ventures forward when recieving the ball from the back. Ward turns back instantly whereas Clyne seemingly looks for options to later turn back when the opposing defender is closing in. Thereafter the ball is carried across the field to TM who goes about his routine which often ends in a lackluster throw-in (either to us or the opponents) or Schlupp/Zaha being forced to pull off something spectacular which they cannot be expected to do every time. Nathan Ferguson is more versatile going forward from what I've seen but when he'll be fit to play is an ever-long question mark. Therefore I suggest that we should focus on finding more creative fullbacks to improve our build-up options. Some players that spring to mind: LB: RB: Others who can fill the spots:

If only 2 then it would have to be another left full and a striker.

Also it depends how we play, if its 3-4-3. then schlupp LB and McArthur RB, Clyne and Hannam as cover

Winger and versatile pacey fullback. Winger- Likely one of: Nelson, Dialo, Lookman. Dreamland if it's Madueke (but that's just fantasy). Fullback- not got many ideas tbh. Aina did ok for Fulham last year and could provide cover/ competition on each side. Hopefully we'll be getting more than two in though to be honest as I think we'll need it! That O'Brien from Huddersfield could have added some needed bite and guile but I think he's likely off to Leeds.

Two decent central midfielders to go alongside Gallagher. Otherwise, it's another season on the back foot with 20% possession.

The lack of a holding midfielder has been our most obvious weakness since the loss of Ben Watson or Barry Bannon. We don't score many goals and this is the reason: no supply from the midfield. Rectify this and we will be on our way.

Its a question of what we have got and where we could struggle LB is an obvious one with no real experienced in that position . A loss of form (it happens with young players) or injury to Mitchell and we are putting round pegs into square holes and limiting our formation choices .We have been here before with Ward and then Kelly a few years back , not somewhere we want to re-visit . With a number of players to come back into the midfield reckoning I would say Im not using my second pick there but would go for a CF who can make something out of nothing . A DF or AJ type if you like not another statue who relies on crosses

I think we need 3 ! 1 x right back (wing back) 1 x midfielder ( playmaker) 1 x out and out striker
