I have heard some Palace fans worrying that relegation could be a possibility.

If you compare what teams are worse than Palace you would probably say Norwich.

With Watford and Brentford remains to be seen but this year it seems relegation could be tight between many teams three that came up and others in the mix.

Do you worry for Palace?

I think Palace won't get relegated they will be fine but they will finish between 12th and 16th. Zaha, Benteke will really help. And Olise coming back in September is definitely a positive.

Of course we could be involved in a relegation battle. It's far too early to say whether or not we actually will and where we might finish. Personally, I think we will be OK but I do expect a stuttering first half dozen games or so until we see our team starting to gel.

Much to the surprise of all and sundry on HOL, I did not predict us to finish in the relegation places, however my prognostications which turn out to be the actualite are few and far between !

I knew this would happen.

1. It's one game, it was against the champion league winners

2. A draw would have been a bonus

3. Even after 7 matches don't expect anything more than 6 points (even that isn't a given)

The good points

1. We get to see who isn't really good enough playing in this style

2. We get to see where we could and where we need to improve

3. Transfers not finished yet

4. Its quite possible to get 13 points from the next 6 matches (next 6 matches below, wins against brentford, west ham, draw spurs, loss liverpool, win brighton, win leicester?) Ignore the colours.

5. Players to come into the squad from those not fit yet or not played

Add Burnley. Burnley are in the same position but haven’t brought in younger faces.

The fixtures computer has kicked us in the proverbials! Coupled with the departure of the ageing out-of-contract players and the bedding in of young and incoming players, the start of the season was always going to be tough. I expect us to be in the bottom three after the first 10 games, but depending on our reaction when we play other bottom half teams, I think we should climb out by Christmas. The big ifs are whether youngsters can step up, more players are signed and we are lucky enough with injuries.
The current squad is not strong enough to dream of mid-table security, but our owners are quite rightly not willing to bankrupt themselves to get there. That leaves investment in youth as the only option, which should have been obvious even before Allardyce was appointed. IMHO, the expense of his acquisitions and their salaries are a big reason for the lack of investment under Hodgson.

You’ve just argued against yourself and proved yourself wrong before your allardyce. Criticism. Those players were needed. We’ve been going wrong never scouting or signing players we can sell on, on high wages, we then can’t replace or shift. Only Gayle, Bolasie, AWB and Zaha were worth anything.

I think our starting line up against Chelsea will be the weakest we will see all season.

Anderson, Benteke and Gallagher will start against Brentford then we have some very likely starters to come back soon enough.

At least half of the teams in the division will be trying their best to avoid relegation.

The palace team that started yesterday’s game would be down by Christmas, but thankfully our team is going to be vastly different in a few weeks…..we hope
