Can’t believe how quickly this has come around. This game will be a tough test for PV and the team. I’m going for a spirited 2-0 defeat.

it was good to see Chelsea having to play extra time on Wednesday and the first game of the season can be tricky for teams. As you can see I'm trying to find reasons to be positive! I'll buck the trend and my name and say we'll grab a point (somehow) in a 1-1 draw.

1-0 to Palace in a smash and grab. I think we'll surprise them and at 12-1 a great bet. I put my £10 on yesterday.
Let's keep the ball this season! |

Basically we will only have 2 new players on the pitch, the centre-backs and of course Eze will be missing.

We weren't really tested in preseason with even Watford being pretty poor for most of the game, so it's hard to tell just how well Viera's new tactics are bedding in. Guehi will undoubtedly be keen to prove a point and Zaha looks hungry. I'm going to go with doombear and make a somewhat optimistic prediction of 1-1. Bentenke to continue his good run of goal-scoring form and some German or other for Chelski.

With so many of their high profile stars having been involved in the Euros their pre season will have been short & disrupted - but they do have significant strength in depth - my feeling, whilst in my heart I would love to see us win it, my head tells me that nicking a point would be an excellent result for us. Reality - probably 2:1

The best we can hope for is that they are disorganised and not ready for season start due to busy international summer and the game thebother night, which gives us more of a chance. I'd settle for witnessing a new positive approach to our football that is a sign of what's to come. 2-1 at best, 1-1 if they have a mare.

4-1 to Chelski, but I think we will show a bit more attacking intent and cause them a few more problems than we have done the last couple of visits, but ultimately the same result, a good hiding, but at least it gets it out of the way Edited by monkey (13 Aug 2021 10.22am)

Chelsea will win, it's just a question of by how many. The gulf in resources is so vast, it hardly qualifies as a sporting encounter. Our season will not be defined by how we do against these teams that represent nothing of their area and community other than the location of their stadium.
