Wonder if Palace could have a minute silence or similar at first home game?
Our next door neighbour went to Lanfranc at the time and was really angry with his parents when told he could not go. Always remember him as being quite introverted, maybe “ survivors guilt” as mentioned in the article

Thanks Spiderman.

An interesting read and not a disaster I was aware of before. I will ask my Uncle who would have been twelve at the time and living locally. I imagine that sort of thing stays in the memory.

So I manage a Workshop which provides a safe learning environment for blokes struggling with PTSD and other mental health issues. Being a Palace fan isn't listed yet.

Yep, nice memorial in Croydon Crematorium, very poignant

My Uncle was Quentin that was the boy that "Won" on a toss of a coin. My auntie Ros wrote the books and my Dad, was Nigel that passed in 2016.

Rip everyone on board. 60 years on. Gone but not forgotten.

100% they need to be supported and I'm touched that a fellow Palace fan posted about it on here, rather than me. So thank you from me and all the Green family. Dad and Quentin were extremely close. Dad would of been made up with being on the Palace website.

Thanks for posting. As a 14 year old I used to play football with the lads from the school on Mitcham Common.I can't remember names but some of them died in the Stavanger tragedy. Hope that the club will remember them at the Brentford match.

Would be nice, I seem to remember them doing it before but could be something else. Yes, great memorial in the cemetary, always think of them walking past, actually its next to the war graves.

Anyone have any idea how we may be able to contact the club about this? Happy to do it on behalf of HOL

I seem to remember something about this before - along with a photo of the memorial. RIP all the boys, their teachers and the crew. Still sad after all this time.

Maybe try and contact Karen Alford. She deals with alot of things for the club or she may at least point you in the right direction. I think it would be very fitting to have a minutes silence before the Brentford game.

It's been 60 years and tragedies and the people involved should never be forgotten and many of the boys involved were Palace fans.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!
