Used to be tidy. Didn’t give the ball away and made useful interceptions. However this season and maybe the back half of the last his form has dipped.
Is he just an ‘overpayed player’. Has he lost interest. Has he spent too much time with his mate at Fulham, or is the captaincy proving a burden? He missed the last few games, and there was mention of some family issues.
More importantly will his form return. If not does he have a value.

Very likely it could be management, not that I wish to point the finger. Was excellent under Sam but then slowly dwindled over time.

That's very true, Central Midfield is one of the most thankless roles in a football team. If you're doing it right, nobody notices you.

Family issues? Surely if you are unhappy at home it doesn’t means that you forget how to pass to players with the same top on as you?
Or you are so bothered about what’s happening at home, that you forget how do deliver a set piece?
Looking for excuses I think, maybe he just isn’t very good anymore.
