#mufc are set to appoint Crystal Palace’s assistant head of academy recruitment Jamahl Jarrett as a lead phase scout in the South of England #mulive [@SthLondonPress] Pity. Our youth system is class. Big loss for us. I wonder who will replace him?

This could be more significant than we think if we don't get things right. We need to be a good choice for the best young talented footballers we can get.

Well good luck to him I don't begrudge anyone in bettering themselves. I thought these days that most young talent is well known amongst the scouts so the days of finding a young George best that everyone else has overlooked are long gone? As others have suggested this has to be more about career path. We need to be like Southampton and even Charlton or even England. If there is a clear path to the first team we should be able to convince these lads they are better off signing with us that Man United. However given the choice of not playing for Man United first team or not playing for the Palace first team I know which one I would pick. That is what has to change.

I get the not playing for either but if potential for playing was higher at one than the other then many would or should pick that path. Money early days shouldn't be a motivation,

Are our academies like for like though? I tried Googling to see how many youngsters Man U had in their academy but couldn't come up with the answer

Why is the default position for so many people on here that there is something wrong with our club that is making JJ take a role with arguably the biggest club in the world ?

Let's face it, as much as it's frustrating for us, when Man Utd come calling and I've no doubt with a far better employment package than we can offer then it's a no brainer. Good luck to the guy.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
