make a decision between two nasty options :

a. Palace to be down in a lower league...but permanently above Charlton, Brighton & Millwall Brentford & Wimbledon , in whatever Table you look at.

or

b. Palace to be in the Prem but BELOW at least one of our rivals.

Which would you choose ?

It's a no-brainer, it has to be the Prem every time as we need the financial security it provides.

Maybe we could ask the Arsenal fans the same question vis-a-vis Tottenham.

When you have been above another club for ages , it is easy to get complacent. But Football is often unforgiving.

Of course the worst of all possible Worlds is Portsmouth. Below 2 local rivals (southampton & seaweed) AND down in lower leagues.

Palace in PL is essential to our financial future and wellbeing, I have no expectation of playing in europe, this is never going to be possible under the current ownership. I happy to be around mid table which is fine and very acceptable. Accepting life in the lower leagues as you describe would eventually lead to oblivion you only have to look at Sunderland as a good example of the long term effects of relegation, lack of ambition and poor ownership!

I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth. I miss the lower divisions, the real fans, the cup runs etc. My main priority is doing up the ground. Other teams have done that from lower leagues but one would think we would have to be in the Premiership. I would like a ground refurbishment in my lifetime. Probably a pipe dream.

i didn't want to mention Selhurst in the opening question. Our poxy ground is like an open wound. But then again, Coventry have the Ricoh Arena....and they are rubbish.

Could not care less about the premiership.

Live in the premiership is overrated. I’d support Palace in any league.

Miss playing Millwall and Charlton.

spoken like a proper Palace fan.

The Prem ? I am beginning to loathe the ego's, the money, the time-wasting, the boring games, the lack of goals, the 95 minutes of goalless draws. The yawning gap between the top 6 giants and everybody else, with its predictable games in a predictable Table. Arsenal Mid-table, Everton 7th, Spurs just outside the top 4, ....ooh what a surprise.

7-0 against Liverpool.

The civil War of Palace fans wanting either 1) to crack on and progress up the table or b) to feckin survive in this money League.

the inevitable day 5 or 10 years from now when we will get relegated, if we are even so lucky to last that long.

All i care about is Thumping Brighton on a regular basis.

Two posts taking finance as the primary reason to be in the prem. What good has dough done.
It's made us boring and as predictable as day and night. I thought football was the game, not bean counting. At least Sunderland fans have something to dream about. What have we got? 15th position. Wow what a dream, not.

Personally I dream of being the top team in London - then see where that takes us...!!

IMO - you strive in life for being the very best you can be - so setting your aims and objectives as high as they can be - if you fall short you’re still be achieving and progressing - whilst mixing it with the best and ruffling a few feathers along the way.

Whilst I appreciate the sentiments of the nostalgia - we’re a different club now and our aims and objectives need to reflect that.

This is the here and now and you’re either on the bus or you ain’t - if you ain’t you’re nowhere and there are plenty of others that would willingly take your place.

Be careful what you wish for..!!
